Tomorrow night I'm presiding over my very first student recital ever!

I've attended recitals several times now as a teacher, but this is my first time organizing and presiding over a recital. It's an extra layer of responsibility. I didn't quite realize before how much is involved in putting together an event like this: preparation of programs and certificates, arranging for food and supplies, coordinating schedules and rehearsal times, keeping teachers, parents, and performers up-to-date with all the relevant times and information, and hosts of other little things. It's been a lot of fun, along with being novel; and probably good practice for organizing a wedding.

Speaking of which, Evan and I had our engagement pictures taken today, and this morning we spent a couple hours assessing our options for invitations. And I bought my wedding shoes (which will conveniently double as bridesmaid shoes in my brother's wedding in June!). And we picked out - and ordered - our wedding rings. The jewelers took my engagement ring so that the wedding band could be exactly fitted to it, and now I FEEL the emptiness on my left hand. I hope it's not a materialistic reaction, but I deeply miss that heavy, visible pledge of unity and faithfulness. I hope it's a quick six weeks.

By the way, what are the odds of your cellphone AND laptop breaking in the same week?

Congratulations! (On both the recital and the ordering of the marriage bands.) Both very exciting occasions!

I hope the recital goes well; I'm glad your first year of teaching seems to be going more smoothly than mine. But...we did it! Yeah!

And I am SO excited for you and Evan (I don't think I've said that to you of late. So I'm making sure you know it now).
