| | RR's, TX and "romance."*Scholasticality - an arrival at an important time in ones education* Well, some person * coughRachelcough * recently told me to update, and talk about some recent things that have been going on in my life. As of now, I am 9 weeks (plus the two weeks of Christmas break) away from finishing my high school career! * enter the applause * Yes, yes, well, I have been looking forward to this point, because its another significant period in the time line of life. Next stop after graduation is start/finish degree. I'm really looking forward to that. I believe I have settled on a Communications Degree with a minor in Entrepreneurial Business with CollegePlus! at the same time getting a Multimedia Certificate that would basically allow me to get a bunch of experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Flash, as well as some more advanced techniques in Digital Photography (wohoo!!!) (My graduation in my mind figures prominently into this as I am hoping for a higher-end digital SLR as the graduation gift :D I'm not trying to cross the bridge before I come to it, but there is a hopeful anticipation of things to come =). I'm also looking into the possibility of interning with NASA LARC (Langley Aeronautical Research Center) as a graphics/mulitmedia "expert." (should the Lord provide it) I'm also looking into some other more politically active internships because ever since I became involved with Generation Joshua, I have had a much deeper appreciation for politics, and generally anything surrounding our founding documents (Mayflower Compact, Fundamental Orders of Connecticut, Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, Constitution, etc). I absolutely love staying up-to-date on the political world, and my interaction one-on-one during the 2005 and 2006 election seasons as a campaign supporter with the RNC has only more intensified that love. Maybe God will find room for that in my future occupation... I also have decided not to follow, even if I am accepted, an internship with CollegePlus! down in San Antonio, TX. Various elements came to my attention (I'm sure by God's ordaining them) that made it clear to me that the best thing would be my staying here and looking for a internship/job future here in Virginia. I love my church, my family (related and non-related), and this makes the most sense support-wise. So much for being a Texas cowboy :) So, long story short, I am coming to a very important part in my life and would greatly appreciate y'all's prayers as I seek God's clear direction for my near future.
That takes care of scholastic stuff.
*ITS OFFICIAL* Another important decision, one I actually have already made, was one not to continue debating with the National Christian Forensics and Communication Association (NCFCA for those of you who debate or do IE's) and end my three-year educational debate career permanently. This was a very hard decision, but one that the more I think about it the more I am convinced that God has blessed and done for my good. It has meant the saying "goodbye" to a lot of things I had never figured on saying that to, but God has been good and has allowed me to move on. At the same time, this does not mean I have departed from providing support and encouragement to those still in debate. Quite the contrary. Many of my friends who have either been involved for a short time or long time have made me immensely proud, be they in Virginia or elsewhere :D This goes to say that I will miss not being at every tournament, seeing the people I'm used to seeing. However, the recent tournament that our club was involved in (Radix Practice Tourney in Richmond, Va) went very well! Alex Klein, my almost-lifetime-long friend, got 7th place speaker and we are all majorly proud of him (go Alex!) His partner and the other team representing our club did very well considering it was the one of the other team members first tournament (rather confusing, I know. lol). It did feel rather odd coming to a tournament in jeans, a button-down shirt, a blazer and.... CONVERSES! (finally!) :) For those of you who don't know, I've always wanted to have converses as the *official* tournament shoe. So for me, it was a victory ;)
*Seasonal* Customarily, as is proper around this time of year, we have turned the house shades of green, red and gold and are looking forward to having Joseph and Katy here with us during the holidays. Promises of food (a most important ingredient), outrageous fun, and of course *drumroll* DaNcInG!!! are exciting us all. I can't wait :)
I apologize for those of you who don't often have a lot of time to read long posts, but recent events have made this a necessity. Hopefully this season of the year will allow you a few more moments to read about how God has been very good to one Virginia Cowboy. May y'all have a blessed Christmas season, and remember that even if life gives you lemons, just be prepared to add sugar and water and enjoy the lemonade =D God Bless!
