The Future Has Arrived

Well, I know its been a longer span of time than I originally expected to keep you in suspense, but sometimes life puts you on rides that you can’t get off of until the ride finishes. In other words, I’m not in control of life, so I just have to “go with it.” :)
However, y’all have been more than patient, so without any further ado, I will explain to you what new ride I’m getting on =D

You may be wondering why I have been posting western themed profile pictures, backgrounds, and updates, and possibly what brick wall I’d run into, or how much sleep I haven’t had. Or, you might’ve just chalked it up as “that’s just Tim.” Yet, this theme is no coincidence and no, I haven’t just recovered from a serious encounter with brick walls.
Ever since mid-October last year, I have been tossing up the potential of pursuing an internship with CollegePlus! The benefits offered would include the equivalent of a full-ride scholarship, as well as a generous monthly stipend and a few other options. This seemed like a great idea until after Mom and I were able to seriously talk about it on the way back from our two week paradise in Colorado Springs. We were able to discuss the practicality of it all, and we pretty much decided that it would be in my best interests to find somewhere else to intern. I’d already put in my application, but I was confident that, should they call, I would thank them for their time, but that I would have to pass it up. That was two months ago, and as we’re all aware, God can do a lot in that time…a WHOLE lot.
In this circumstance, He did. CollegePlus! did indeed call (on the 2nd week in January), and after the conversation with their Director of Admissions, I was completely not confident in my prepared-for position of “passing it up.” I talked with Mom immediately after the call and after 15 or 20 intense minutes of discussion, we realized that God was leading in completely opposite direction than we thought He was. She liked the idea, and was staunch in her belief that it was practically, as well as financially doable. Still, we wanted a firsthand account from my brother who is already there. He asked some good questions, but at the end, he too liked the idea and his general sentiment was “If you want it, go for it.” Since then, I’ve had two more phone calls with the CP! correspondent, one interview, and one follow-up call in which I was formally accepted to the position of Admissions Registrar, which I will assume on the 31st of March. The one very drastic change, is that the commitment is for a year…in San Antonio, Texas – thus the Western theme and the reason for "no coincidence." The other benefit I have not already mentioned accomodates me with an apartment, at no cost to myself. The monthly stipend will generously cover the other costs I will have to pay for – car insurance, gas, cell phone coverage, food, and some pocket-money. Because I’m still a dependent though, I have access to the military bases nearby, which will be most helpful in efficiently putting food on the table =) I will not be the only one in the apartment, but it will still be a completely new atmosphere to adjust to.

I very much appreciate all of the friendships I have with every one of you, and I will miss being near the people I know and love the most. I would be very grateful for your prayer support as I follow God’s leading, and pursue this internship in Texas. I would also appreciate prayer as I search for a dependable means of transportation =D As I'm sure you know, its not all that easy.
For those of you who I know through debate, I know this will be especially hard, as I have already become “alumni,” but won’t be able to cheer you on at tournaments...I know only too well how much I will miss it, as well as the plethora of opportunity for stimulating fellowship.
This has not been an easily decided decision, and I will miss y’all very much =( A great way to keep in touch with me would be through email, as I will have computer access pretty much 24/7. Also, some of y’all have my cellphone number, so feel free to give me a ring when you have time. If you don’t have my email or you would prefer phone conversations instead, message me on xanga, and I’ll be sure to get it to you.

Thank you again for being such great and endearing friends over the years – I don’t think I would feel near as comfortable leaving for this period of time if I didn’t have these relationships and know I would have encouragement through this time of transition. You guys/gals are the best friends I could have ever hoped for. Press on!

Aww man...everyone's "growing up" too fast...and I'm going to be one of them next year too. I can't believe it's already been four years (almost exactly) since I first met you at our Fredericksburg practice tournament (EP year). I'll miss seeing you at the tournaments, bud. Stay in the loop...and if you want to follow tournament results, we'll have them up on regionninedebate.com. God Bless!

(You're still coming to check out Regent right?)

(Between being gone all last week staffing TeenPact, and then catching up on the homework overflow this week, I'm just now discovering this post. heh =P.)

Thanks for giving those of us who (sadly) don't get to talk to you as much anymore an update on all God is doing in your near future. =) As if I didn't miss you and your family enough, you'll be missed as you go to that hot and sunny place called Texas =).

May He do wondrous things this next season (and may you keep us updated!).
I'll be praying for ya, Twuffles ;).
