ENG111 9.19 "Annotated Bibliography x 2"

Sample Resume for a Nurse. Monster.com. 9/28/2006

<http://resume.monster.com/resume_samples/nurseres/>

Strengths:

1.) Contact information is there

2.) Formalness in the wording of the cover letter

3.) The addressing of the paper shows he did his reader analysis

Weaknesses:

1.) Far too short

2.) Has no selling value at all. Looks like one in a thousand

3.) Formatting does not work well, with the contact information all over the place

Sample Job Cover Letters. BestCoverLetters.com. 9/28/2006

<http://www.bestcoverletters.com/sample-cover-letter/Medical/Sample-Job-Cover-Letters-02.html>

Strengths:

1.) Looks great. Formatting, bullet points, ext.

2.) Contact information is clear and in the right places

3.) Really sets this person apart from other résumés

Weaknesses:

1.) Far too long. No one wants to read that much before an interview

2.) No references listing.

3.) Bullet points can be confusing with all the wordiness

From these two examples, I found that I need to have my contact information on the left-hand side where it doesn’t look confusing to the reader. Conciseness has to be a priority. Maximum effect in minimal time
