I watched Saving Private Ryan the other day for the first time. I found it on VHS at an antique shop for $2.50. Best movie I've ever watched... I suppose it is safe to say that it is worth it.
The realism was amazing... everything I thought that was going to happen didn't happen. Great acting, great storyline. I was caught up in what was going on...
Towards the end, when John Miller (Tom Hanks) was shooting at the tank that was upon him, it was the most dramatic and touching part. It had the feeling of desperation and hope.
Great movie. I wouldn't suggest watching without a language filter (how we watched it).
Random note: I didn't cry during Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, or in any other touching movie. The only movie I've actually cried in was, amazingly, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Ironically, that bill that Mr. Smith was attempting to pass was unconstitutional. Life is full of irony.
