Children's Books
Do you remember the sense of wonder you felt as your mother read to you or as you read your first chapter book on your own? Did you groan when your teachers assigned you Julie of the Wolves or Island of the Blue Dolphins? I have been reading many a children's books from my Grad school reading list. It's amazing to go back and read books that you read as a child but now looking at it as a writer. What beautiful prose Roald Dahl had, what magic could Frances Hodgson Burnett (The Secret Garden) create. I actually reccomend going back and reading a few of your childhood favorites, because I promise that the magic you felt when you were ten is still there. Best part is, children's and young adult books are quick reads. Below are the books I have read thus far.
Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Harold and the Purple Crayon by Ruth Krauss
Miss Nelson is Missing by Harry Allard
