UPDATE:
It seems that I suddenly have
something to talk about after all. If you go
here,
you can hear an interview with Jeff Hawkins about the structure of
the brain and its relationship to improving artificial
intelligence. I've listened to it three times now, and I'm still
excited by it.
Anyone
who knows me will tell you that I’m interested in developmental psychology and
advanced education. One of the stickiest
problems in the field is finding a definition of the word “intelligence.” In the
above interview, Mr. Hawkins theorizes that intelligence is really a matter of prediction
based on pattern recognition. This is
fascinating. He also briefly mentions a theory of mine that I was discussing a
while a go with doraycidkyrene:
that prejudice is largely a matter of faulty pattern seeking.
Don't forget to
check out the stuff under the "Reviews" tab!
I’ve also put a new post on Don’t Forget This Poem.
Quote of the Day:
“In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I
didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and
I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the
Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for
me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.”
