I should be sleeping ...

... but, I'm not.  I took a wee nap at about 11:30 pm/midnite, then I woke up at 1 am.  I can't decide if I'm hungry enough to heat somethin' up, or if I'll just wait 'til 7:30 am [my official "wake up" time] to eat.

My plan is to wake up [it's always good to plan that], pack my duffle bag my overnite stay at my Mom's, as I'll return to LA some time on Sunday, then head to an elementary school for Reading to Kids.  As soon as I leave the school, I hit the fwy, which reminds me that I gotta get some gas, and head south.

Hmm, now I'm thirsty.  Should I drink somethin', or just go back to sleep?

On Wednesday, I typed a story for the Story Salon in 30 minutes & didn't have time to read it through, except as I typed it.  By the time I went on the stage and read it, I just hoped it flowed.  I received really good feedback after the Salon, but I worried that the feedback was supportive, but not necessarily constructive.

Did it matter?  Absolutely, because I wanted to learn the flaws of my story.  I decided not to worry very much about it, because it was a nice story and except for truth in the background of it, the rest was fictional; my fave type o' story to create.

Thursday, I was out of town for a doctor's appointment.  While I sat in the waiting room of the lab, I killed time by writing a story.  Usually I put my poet's cap on and write, but I wanted to be a bit more balanced, by trying different types of writing: prose, play, etc.  I began a very fun story that I need to edit, because it may be my entry for the Story Salon anthology, due out in April.  We'll see, as the deadline for submission is December 31st and I procrastinate.

No writing on Friday, because it was a LONG day and a true test of my mental stamina; though I almost failed!

Today, once I arrive at my Mom's, my sister and I are going to Macy's so I can try to find a luggage set better than the one I purchased on-line.  Afterwards, we're goin' to grub and then catch "Rent" hopefully.  Then, it'll be time to just relax.  Yea, a tad relaxin' moment before returning to the grind of work.  Trust me, it does grind my li'l nerves.

I wanted to add a few more podcasts, so here I go:

- The Bitterest Pill:  Hosted/created by Dan Klass, who is a stay-at-home Dad.  He does go on auditions and other things, but for the most part, he stays at home watching the kids.  He's an LA resident, so I had the pleasure of meeting him.  He has one of the coolest graphics on his 'blog that I have ever seen.  His podcast covers a variety of everyday topics, as well as a few that cover parenting and family life.  He usually maintains a family friendly 'cast, so he's safe to listen to while the children are around.  If you like what you hear, feel free to pre-order his upcoming CD.  Also, he co-wrote a book on podcasting for beginners and veterans alike titled Podcast Solutions.

- The Twisted Pickle:  Hosted/created by Corby Bender, who is married with a daughter and lives in Omaha.  This 'cast is different than most to which I listen, because Corby "ninja casts".  In other words, his wife doesn't know about his podcast, nor does she know that he's very open on the mic.  He's a self-proclaimed introvert and has a bit of social anxiety, so he freaks out in almost any social situation.  Case in point, he attended the Podcast and Portable Media Expo in November, in Ontario, but was nervous about meeting ANYONE.  He's funny, shoots from the hip and his awkwardness makes me feel better about myself and isn't it all about me?  Corby's take on life may offend some and his language may offend many others, but he doesn't ever seem to offend me.  Even so, be careful listening to the 'cast, 'less ye have headphones.

- The Tartan Podcast:  Hosted/created by Mark Hunter, who lives and breathes Scotland and is greatly responsible for the explosive interest in Scottish independent music.  His 'cast is a bit of banter [and who doesn't enjoy the Scottish accent], but mostly a lot of music.  I purchased a couple of CDs already of some amazing artists, but I plan to purchase more.  I love independent music, because the artists are still VERY approachable and appreciative of their fans and that makes me want to support them even more.  The music ranges from "traditional" bag pipes to hardcore metal to punk.  You can't really label a lot of the music, however, which makes the 'cast a true listening pleasure.

I'm done now and I began this at ~1:15 am and now it's 2:43 am.  Yeah, time to head to sleep & catch a good dose of it!

Until next time, thanks again for reading and support.  Check out the 'casts and tell a friend.  Also, feel free to check out my "currently reading" selection.  An adventurous journey through one man's life between California and Nevada, during times of footloose frolic and melancholic musings.

Peace,

Moi
