Martin Lawrence Live - Runteldat (Widescreen Edition)

It's Official!

I'm one of the participants of the Dead Poet Slam portion of the Austin International Poetry Festival!  I'm not sure how discriminating the selection process was, if at all, but I'm happy to be a participant.  It's tax season, so my creative spark has been more of a flicker, until I received a confirmation e-mail listing me as a participant.  Woo hoo!

Do I have my air ticket or airfare for Austin yet?  No.  I need to get crackin' on findin' clients or such, so that I can make this "dream" a reality.  Especially since I'm official [did I mention that already?]!

I've been lax on my writing goals for the year, so gonna try to get back on track.  I'm hopin' to get other folks' done for tax season by the end of this week, so that I can truly dedicate March to my literary growth [and do my taxes - ugh!].  There're so many deadlines in March. from the 1st to the 15th, but I hope to knock out some good schtuff and nothin' mediocre.

On Friday, after meeting with a potential new client, I brushed away my desire to rush back to the Valley and phoned my hairstylist.  She was so sweet & squeezed me in with a noon, same day appointment!  I arrived a 1/4 early and she whisked my hair off my head & returned me to my glowin' crown of the bare hair minimum.  She was a whiz!

Friday eve, I saw a flourish of talent, courtesy of "The Atomic Lounge" special segment of the Story Salon.  I wish someone were recordin' all the performers, because they were all entertainin', from Beverly Mickins' and John O' Kennedy's musical interludes, to wonderful storytelling ranging from comical to endearing.

On Saturday, I visited one of my clients, the Calderon Funeral Home, which started my day off very well.  It was a pleasure to return to visit Santa Barbara, as well as the Calderons.  I cruised up the coast, handled my bi'ness and brought some of it with me, so that I could complete 2005 for the CFH.  It's gonna be quite an undertakin' indeed this week, in addition to workin' on findin' more clients.

At night, I saw "No Second Trumpet" at my fave theatre in LA - The Celtic Arts Centre.  It was a story of a family durin' the "Great Irish Famine".  I was just a patron, but I believe the actors were stellar, the writing was moving and offered a realistic view at an incredibly historical event that marked Ireland, the rest of the UK and the world.  After the show, as always, I enjoyed the company of fellow patrons and the cast/crew of the CAC.  There were folks from all over, includin' Ireland, which caused quite a bit o' convo re: Ireland - then & now.  Simply a lovely spin to my weekend.

Today, I focused on eatin' well or better, since I seemed to be on the "grab & go" diet the last few weeks.  I was on the run all over LA, with barely a moment to consider proper food intake.  I was not normally a breakfast person, but I do try to munch somethin' before meetin' anyone, since I usually see clients in the mid-morning.  Dinner was always better, because I ate my normal indulgences - a turkeyburger from Fatburger included - yum!

Now I'm cravin' a turkey hot dog from Wienerschnitzel.  Unfortunately, I'm too lazy, but at least I know where I'll be headin' for dinner tomorrow - haha

Tonite, I'm gonna begin sketchin' a literary project I hope to complete by the March 1st deadline, so we'll see.  I also need to get my client billing completed.  Given my current financial constraints, emphasis on the "strain", I need to be more aggressive about my billing.  I spend my week entrenched in other people's money that I have very li'l energy for mine.  Peek-a-boo, I don't see you, money.

My "currently watching" selection was of Martin Lawrence, comedian & actor who provided and continues to provide me with side-splittin', breathtakin', original comedic entertainment.  I'm finally watchin' "Inside of the Actor's Studio" segment of Martin Lawrence that I TiVo'd and ... Mr. Lipton, thank you for acknowledging greatness; like begets like I suppose.

Ok, that was a moment of nostalgia and after a deep breath, I digress.  Thank you & good night [in the words of Kasino].  Or, good night and thank you [in the marvelous words of Morrissey].

Peace,

Moi
