| | I haven't had much time to 'blog since returning from my trip to NY [read the last post]. However, the prologue to the previous post is that I ended up in NY a week longer than planned, but it was greatly worth it!
I miss my city and my family.
Onward & upward, or so they say ...
If you haven't had a chance to check out The Story Salon Big Book of Stories, I recommend that you get off your haunches & head to your fave bookstore. If it ain't there, tell the owner about it and he/she can easily order it for you. Otherwise, you can most certainly click on the link above & order it the "new-fashioned" way.
I didn't think I'd have a chance to branch out in the world of storytelling, beyond the safe enclosure of the Story Salon, but a-ha!
On Sunday, October 22nd, I will have the privilege to be one of the storytellers sharing his/her craft with a bunch of strangers. I'm not on the scene here in LA, so I have no theatrical or cinematic experience whatsoever. Imagine my surprise when I submitted a story for an October slot & after some constructive feedback & editing, received a spot in the show! It's titled "Melt in Your Mouth" & it's a monthly spoken word series produced by Fire Rose Productions. The storytelling will take place in a theatre located in North Hollywood - how great is that? Very great, lemme tell ya!
Sooo, I will not be telling a story at tonite's Story Salon, but I will be one of the featured 'tellers this Sunday!
I don't know whether it's coincidence or part of the overall plan for my life, but 6 months ago, I flew to Austin to stake my claim in the literary world as a budding poet. Here I am 6 months later, staking my claim as an aspiring writer. I complain & gripe to anyone who'll listen about my woes of living in L.A., but my pen has never been so full of ink at the ready and my paper has never had as many scribbles, as when I made my exodus from Santa Barbara to the San Fernando Valley.
I traded one saint for another & along the way, I continued ... to write.
My "currently listening" selection is from one of my fave artists. None of the voices of the newer generation have as full a sound, or as soulful of a melody, as this woman had. Music misses this songstress.
Until next time ...
Peace,
Moi
