Takin' Time for PoetryI'm
takin' a minute, before I begin working to post. The Slam Idol
Podcast's Open Writing Challenge was a LOT of edutainment in 10 days.
I had fun composing my poem "I Love NY" within the 10 days and creating
an audioblog along the way. I also learned about myself as a
poet/writer during that time, which will serve me well in the future,
especially at the upcoming Austin International Poetry Festival.
Hopefully this
evening, I'll be able to take some time and listen to the other poets'
audioblogs and their completed poems. I appreciate and enjoy their
poetry ordinarily, so it'll be nice to get a glimpse of their
approaches & processes during this Challenge.
If you get a
chance, please check out the Slam Idol's OWC webpage and each poet's
link. Once Day 10's recordings are posted, voting for the poems should
begin. You can vote for mine, if you think it's the best of the
batch. But, I love that it was more about the challenge of writing
within guidelines and timelines, than the competition.
All in all, I consider myself a winner for taking a chance on trusting this process and myself.
My "currently watching" selection is because I'm a lifelong fan of John Inman. I'll post more about this artistic genius later.
Peace,
Moi
