I walked to the Post Office in the rain today, and was glad I had my new raincoat--it would have been rather windy for an umbrella! However, I need a rain skirt to go with the rain coat!
I don't think you're supposed to do much gardening in the rain, so I have a good excuse to stay inside today. But I made good progress yesterday, digging up and clearing out the rest of the worst section, moving the phlox and getting rid of everything else. Next I need to put in the border strips I got on Monday, and then pry individual weeds out of the rest of the garden... and plant annuals. I may just sow the seeds I was given at work--bachelor's buttons and zinnias. I should also mulch.
I love the delicate baby leaves on the trees at this time of year. A shame it comes and goes so quickly! I wish there were a way to hold onto it just a little longer... this season of fresh, new growth--and mild temperatures! And I wish spring would bring fresh, new growth in my life as well (not in my body, though--fresh, new weightloss would be much prefered, lol!). I mean something like a new friendship, or a new outlook of some kind... a new sense of accomplishment, or a new and interesting motivation...
I have been making much headway on the afghan. I am doing it in rows (ripple-style) after all. Only problem is, at this rate it'll be wider than it is long...
And I got out and worked in my garden a bit after all--using the weed-prying tool to pull out the various tap-root types of weeds (dandelions, thistles, and Queen Anne's lace). It is marvelous to me how clean dirt smells! Although, unfortunately, I kept getting occasional whiffs suggestive of cats today...
