  • Today has not felt like a Saturday.  We got up fairly early, dressed up nice, and headed to Winona Lake for the Grace College graduation ceremony (one of my sisters was graduating, not to mention a number of other random people I know from Grace, mostly through choir).

Graduation ceremonies can be rather boring, but there are a few interesting points--all those faculty dressed in amazing robes (much more elaborate than the graduates in their relatively basic caps and gowns), making me think of some sort of medieval ceremony--even if we were in a 21st century building with very up-to-date technology!  Some of the speeches were very boring, but others were decent... I haven't sung in the choir for about a year, and it was a bit sad to see the students graduating and figure even if I went back, half the people I know would be gone.  And once you miss a semester, they drop you off the mailing list and it's hard to find out what the next semester will be.

Anyway, we had lunch at the church building--Papa John's pizza--and I didn't even get a picture of my sister in her cap and gown because I thought I'd take it at lunch, but of course she had taken them off by then.

I've added a few more chapters to my story now.  My Roman Numeral chapter headings were wrong, I discovered, but I got that straightened out, and so I'm up to Chapter 17 now, I think--still very short chapters--but if I divided the story into Part One and Part Two, this would be the end of Part One.  And I really wouldn't want to draw Part One out any longer--I'm worried already that I spent way too much time with everybody running around trying to figure out what had happened, and then building up the suspense while the hero lies there unconscious for three days.  But anyway, I'm pleased with my progress, after weeks of writing nothing.  Trouble is, my ideas of what happens next are a good deal vaguer.  But then, most of what I've written this week was pretty vague in my mind before I wrote it.

I don't think I'm going to be doing any gardening yet today, but I should probably get off here now and do some crocheting...
