  • Let's Get Political, Shall We??

So, we're down to three for president.  And what a three we've got, huh?

This will definitely be the most interesting race we've had in a while...

I'm for McCain.  In fact, I'm for McCain all the freaking way... Let me explain.  Let's look at who we have running.  (I'm not going into too much detail in this post.  I don't want it to be 7 pages long.  I'm just giving the basics.  If you want examples, maybe later I'll do a post on each candidate individually.  For now, this is just how I feel without going too deep.)

Obama: (who will most likely get the democratic nomination, let's be honest)  I'm going to be frank.  I can't stand this man.  He's conniving, he's sneaky, he's proven to be underhanded with the way he's handled the deal with his preacher, and he doesn't have one ounce of integrity.  Do we want a man like THAT running our country??  I certainly don't!  I firmly believe in my heart that this man will be the death of our country if he's elected.  Sure, he's a great public speaker... he's great with the words.  I don't care about how great you may be with words!  It's what you can do behind that desk that affects how I'm going to vote!  And frankly, I don't like the potential Obama has to bring this country down.  He's stated on numerous occasions that he's against protecting our country, he's the most liberal person in our senate, and I've seen some very disturbing things circulating with how he feels about Americans.  I will fight and campaign for HILLARY if it means keeping this man out of office.  Period.

Clinton:  Let's look at Hillary, shall we?  First, do we really want another Clinton back in office?  We all know the Clintons don't know what they are doing in the White House.  We've seen 8 years of them not knowing what they are doing.  And while she's better than Obama, is she really who we need in office?  She's underhanded.  She has no morals.  And I have seen on so many occasions that she doesn't even have enough respect for the office to keep a straight face during speeches.  Now, you don't have to like Bush.  Whatever.  But don't roll your eyes when the man is speaking and you're being caught on camera.  This just makes you look like an idiot.  Sorry, but it does.  Frankly, if she does get in office, I would love to see someone get up there and show her the lack of respect she showed our president.  Someone have the guts to flip her the bird... please.  We all know what the Clintons are capable of.  We've seen what Bill did to that office.  How he disgraced our country.  Do we really think his wife is going to be any different??

McCain:  Alright, so are there candidates I would have rather seen on the Republican Ballot?  Sure.  McCain's not the greatest choice, in my opinion.  But is he better than the above two??  By a landslide.  A friend and I agreed a while back that we wouldn't campaign for the guy, but we'd cast our vote for him.  I think I've changed my mind there.  Let's face it, we all know it's coming down to McCain and Obama.  And if it means keeping Obama out of office, I will fight to put McCain in it.  I will plaster bumper stickers on my car, and post signs all up and down my street.  I will do whatever the heck it takes to keep that man out of office.  Sure, McCain's got a temper.  Guess what?  I LIKE THAT.  I read an article (which I recommended not too long ago) on McCain which stated this person wanted his itchy finger on the button.  Let's have these other countries quaking in their boots because of the man we have in office.  Let's film him throwing a temper tantrum in the Oval Office and mail it to every terrorist faction in the world.  Then let's let them consider giving us a hard time any more.  A-freaking-men.  That's all I have to say about that!

Yeah, these are personal opinions and no, they don't deal too much with their policies.  Yeah, policies are important to me.  Yeah, I want to know the person I'm voting for is the closest to my political views.  (Another reason I'm all for McCain... he's certainly closer than the other two!)  Mostly, though, I want to know the person in that office is a person of integrity.  A person who really does love America and who really has this country's best interests at heart.  In my opinion, the only candidate who is all of that is McCain.

So, yeah... I'm behind McCain... and I'm giving him everything I've got.

Ditto to eeeeeeeeverything you just said! And I do mean everything!

  • msmarie0106

Yeah, I have to agree also.  We don't have much choice in this race, but the lesser of three evils.  McCain is definitely not my choice, but of the three, I will do everything I possibly can to see him get elected.

Funny thing though, with the other two fighting it out, maybe they are helping us too!

  • MyOrganizedMess

Who really cares?  I sure don't...  Like my Pastor said this past Sunday, not any of them can save the world...there's only One!  So its pointless for me to even care or vote for that matter b/c nothing is going to change.  There's only one that I'm keeping my eyes on and that's what's most important.

  • Hecalmsthestorm

I definitely have to disagree with MyOrganiziedMess.  It is because we didn't care enough that 4000 babies a day die.  It is because we didn't care enough that God is no longer allowed in schools.  It is because we didn't care enough that our military preachers cannot pray in the name of Christ.  It is because we didn't care enough that our youth have no sense of right and wrong.  Shall I go on???

  • apennieformythoughts

I don't like Hillary or Obama either... but I dislike McCain just as much. So I have no idea what I'm going to do. I would have so totally voted for Huckabee, lol...

I do disagree with you on Bill Clinton though... I believe he was a good president, maybe not a good man, but a good president.

  • tonyasworld

AMEN TO THAT HECALMSTHESTORM...Jennifer I am behind you on EVERYTHING YOU SAID...I want Mc-Cain all the way.

  • UnworthyofHisgrace

I just hope Mccain picks a running mate that will make him easier to swallow. I WILL be voting for the man. I SOOOO wish the choice would have been a Thompson/Huckabee ticket, but oh well. America can't afford in this time of it's existance to have a Hitlary or an Obama as our leader. Neither one knows HOW to lead. Just like any Democrat, they stick their finger to the wind to see which way the winds is blowing and try to make themselves look as good as possible!  Your dad is SOOOO right, we CAN NOT be apathetic in this at all!

I feel as if a part of my soul has been stolen. Its as if you've written out my thoughts. And its a little scary. Dittos to you. My overall assessment would line up exactly with yours, and so would my emotional response. I live in Indiana and took a Dem primary ticket just to vote against Obama. He probably is easier to beat in November than Clinton, but the possibility of an Obama presidency is just too frightening.

I would also like to say dittos to Hecalmsthestorm for his response to myorganizedmess. Values matter. Our participation in "we the people" matters. Abortion, civil rights, affirmative action, marriage, religious freedom - these are all topics that we must not remain silent about or take for granted or they will be lost. McCain might not have been my first choice on the Republican side, but he does have a record of honesty, decency, high morals, social conservatism, and fiscal responsibility. I don't think he's right about a few things such as global warming, but I do trust him to keep us safe more than any of the Dems or most of the earlier Republican candidates. Abortion, homosexual rights, religious freedom, national security - these are the hotbuttons for me and McCain is on the right side of every one of these issues as far as I'm concerned.

  • IssyMae

@apennieformythoughts - I encourage you to study the voting record for each of the options. Pick the one who you agree with the most. We are called to vote for the person who lines up as closely as possible to our moral and political beliefs. I can break it down for you... want to be lighter on terror, vote for Obama. Want to pay more taxes, vote for Hillary or Obama. Want more pro-choice judges, vote for Hillary or Obama. Want to stand in line for months for healthcare, vote for Hillary. Want less government involvement in your life, vote for McCain. Want someone who won't raise your taxes, vote for McCain. Want someone who has fiscal responsibility, vote for McCain. Want someone who will stand strong against terror, vote for McCain.

So, don't know who to vote for? Take a look at their record and it should be easy... depending on the stands you take on things.

  • squeakysoul

I know I'd vote for McCain over Hillary any day. Obama vs McCain, well I don't know. They have their pluses and their minuses in my book. It's great that we may have a black president, and it's great that McCain is pro-life, etc, but meh, I'm not too thrilled about any one of them, frankly. I may never ever see a politician that I can really believe in. So I just keep voting for what I feel is the lesser of two evils. What else is there to do? Maybe being in politics in inherently something for people who are not quite on the up and up.

  • ShortyTheChileHead

@MyOrganizedMess - I couldn't disagree with you more.  I'm with everyone else.  We HAVE to care.  It's our duty to care.  While ultimately, God will be the one we all answer to, and H will work it out in His plan, that doesn't mean we can just take an attitude of apathy and sit back and watch the world go to hell in a handbasket....

Trust me... we have to care.

  • SimplySuthernGal

OY! Everyone OK some are NOT right that there IS no choice..How can we care..We ONLY have one voice and ISN'T loud enough to reach the world round 7 times..I feel that Obaman Is gonna be the next President IT'S this lil gut feeling I have..But I keep praying and hoping HE drops out or gets to stressed and can't handle the pressure and drops like a fly..Clintion I don't mind her In office but ITS neat to see a women In office but we NEED the right women and she's NOT even right or graceful to fit Into that slot..McCain THINKS he can save the world but he truly can't and IF he wants the whole USA with Health INS. we'd huffa raise our tax's like Canada and I can't even handle gas or milk being up so high..I wish we had better choices for the Presidency but we don't we have to face someone we DON'T like will end up In office..I don't know or have any IDEA that Obaman Is the Anit-Chris or going to be the death of our country but people freak when ground beef goes up they say the worlds gonna end..It doesn't so..WHAT CAN I SAY..All I CAN DO Is vote for who I like and keep my mouth closed when I do..

    Take Care In God Bless

May GOD Smile Upon You..Today..Tomorrow and Always

I think you spoke all this well. If we just take the attitude of not caring we are giving up on the freedom and voice we have in this country. To vote and have a hand with electing the next president is one of the most important thing we can do. Its a right that many dreamed of and many fought for and paid for this right with their lives. Its one of the greatest things we can do as Americans. Vote and Pray.

I agree that McCain is the best choice we have right now. I think that this presidential race is going to be one of the most important ones on record.

  • sugartomyhoney

everyone already answered myorganizedmess so I will just say amen and ditto! to what everyone else said.

Beyond that, to those who think it would be great to have a black president or a woman president...yes you are right, it would.  But, stupid to vote for someone because the person is black and you think we should have a black president or the person is a woman and you think we should have a woman president.  You need to be voting for the person who would make the best president no matter what color or gender!  I hate to say McCain is the best one, in my opinion, but right now he is the best choice we have.  If I didn't trust God to take care of things in this world, I would be really scared right now!
