I'm just gonna paste most of what I sent to Lucas. Because I REALLY don't wanna type it all again!

Okay, so my "trucklette" was running fine with no problems. Then I went to the gas station yesterday. I filled up, and when I got back in, it wouldn't start. I tried and tried; nothing. So I try to calm myself down because I felt myself go into panic mode (seeing as how I am ridiculously spectacular at worrying), and called my mom. Thank God for cell phones. She called my dad and then came to meet me there. Dad called me a few minutes after that and suggested all of this stuff, all of which I had already done. But I tried it all again. Still nothing. So here I am sitting at the gas station in my car that won't start, in the way of people trying to drive around me, and needing the pump I was parked at. I'm sorry, people!! I couldn't do anything about it. So Mom got there, and we waited for Dad. He got there, took my keys, popped the disarm button (it's all an alarm problem), and started the car.

Aaaaaand I stood in disbelief. I TRIED THAT!!!!!!!! Several times!!! It didn't work for me!!! But it worked for him on the first try. Okay, so I looked dumb. And I didn't know if it was something I did, or if it was the vehichle itself. But anyway, I then went to Wal-Mart and home and then work today, and it worked fine. As I was leaving the school, I tried to press the button to unlock it, and it wouldn't do anything. So I just unlocked it with they key and opened the door. The alarm went off but I didn't really care. I popped the disarm button and it worked. It shut off. That was weird but I didn't think too much about it. I got in and left. I went from the school to the Command Post (Army Surplus), got what I came for, and went back to the trucklette. It wouldn't start. Great, here we go again. I tried and tried, and tried doing what we did yesterday, still nothing. I tried to call Mom again and it rang and rang and rang but she never picked up. I thought maybe she went somewhere, so I tried her cell phone. Same thing. lol... here I am trying to surpress panic mode again because now I was not only stranded, but I couldn't get a hold of her! I tried the house again and she answered this time. So I told her and she called Dad, who left work once more to come save me. While I waited I tried again several times but it still wouldn't start. Finally (maybe... 20, 25 minutes later?) he pulled in. As he got out and was walking over to me, I tried popping it again and... it worked. I laughed. I opened the door and said, "you're not gonna like this." He said "It started?" I hadn't started it yet but I disarmed it so I knew it would. I tried, and it worked. AS SOON AS HE GOT THERE. By that time I was thinking it wasn't anything I was doing wrong after all, because that very thing I did to make it work, I had done several times before. Actually, MANY times before. And it didn't work. But now it did. ARG. So he left, and I went home.

So that's the end of the Dad coming to save the damsel is distress stories.

Then Don called to see if I wanted to come hang out with him and Laura. This is how I found out the real problem. When I left, it worked fine. When I got there, I tried to lock it and it wouldn't. I didn't really worry about it, just hoped it would work when I left. We decided we wanted a new game to play so we went to Wal-Mart. It almost didn't work, but it did. Then when it was time to leave Wal-Mart, I tried... and tried... and finally asked Laura, "so, how much do you like Wal-Mart?" I was convinced we weren't leaving any time soon. I had been thinking it was the remote, so Don played with it a bit and we wanted to see if maybe it was the battery. So we turned around and went back in to look for a battery. They didn't have what we needed. Or even the equivalent. So we decided to go try it one more time before walking across the parking lot to Radio Shack to see if they had one. We tried and it wouldn't work. Don played with it some more, took it apart and cleaned the contacts (ie, licked his finger and rubbed them with it. Eew) on the circuit board, and it worked. And I thanked God because I was praying the whole time. We got back to their house and he cleaned it some more while Laura and I played Mad Gab. He went outside and I heard it arming and disarming several times, so it was working. I was glad. Then when I went to leave... of course it would've been too easy if it had just KEPT working. But no. It wouldn't work. And the alarm went off twice and we couldn't stop it. lol. FINALLY Don got it to work. And I went home. And you know what? I got out at my house, and armed it just fine. Then I realized I forgot to turn off my headlights, so I DISarmed it just fine. Then when I was done, armed it again. No problem. Then I had to turn right back around to move cars around, and it worked again several times. So, it wants to work while I'm home. But not when I'm far away from home. Of course. But anyway... tonight is when we really learned the problem was in the remote not making good contact or whatever. So Don and I did a bit of online research ("Don and I" means Don did it all and said "hey come here" and I stood reading over his shoulder) and found where to order a new one. For $50 (actually not bad compared to what I was bracing myself for). So I'll be ordering one... lol.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Okay. I feel better. There's not a thing wrong with the "trucklette," it's a whole remote problem. And it's not ME. lol... that's all I care about. It's not just me being stupid.

Anyway... end of stories. Now you know. Now you can laugh.

it's sad, when you own a car that is so bad that when you see smoke coming from it, you hope that its fire! (true story) the others one I set on fire my self. come to think of it, it's about 3, no 4, no I believe at least 5 cars i've been in that have been on fire. That's starting to scare me, I wonder if it's a trend. anyway, WELCOME! it's a wonderful wunderful wundawful world of cars. they're like girls can't live with em, can't live without them, and they are tempermental, and you never get back the money you've invested in them.

i definately know how ya feel...im the queen of calling my dad (back when i lived in the same town/state) and having him come rescue me only to fix the problem right as he's pulling up.  One time--he went so far as to drive HERE (7 hrs. away) to work on my car, only to have it "fix itself" somehow when he was about an hour away....oops!

Well, there comesa  time when it's necessary ;) Plus, it's not the car, which is good. Just the remote. Easily fixed. Expensive, but easy.
