| | I read a lot more of Tam's book tonight. After a few chapters I had to put it down, though. I was starting to cry again. Just seeing her explain in detail every moment of what happened, and things I'd never heard her say... it was horrible; I just wanted to wrap my arms around her. She's such a beautiful woman. She's strong, even though I know she doesn't think she is. And she had an amazing relationship with an amazing guy... I know I'm not the only one who will never understand why it all happened.
Reading it again, it didn't even seem real to ME, and I really didn't even know Trent. But I remember him. I remember when I saw him for the first time. (I'd post the pic of Tammy and me that day, but uh... no. No sharing of 4 year old pictures!) I remember seeing him work, helping her. I remember him beaming at her the whole time. I remember that I never saw with without either a smile, or laughing. We should've gotten him in on our picture! And I remember that day. I found out on September 11th, 2001. (The day his body was found.) I was already confused and kind of shocked because of all the other happenings of that day, I didn't know what to think. And I remember sitting in my living room in the dark (I was the only one still awake) that night, facing the idea of writing to Tammy, and wondering what in the WORLD to say.
And I remember once, a couple of months later, waking up in the middle of the night (around 2am), and "seeing" her laying in bed, crying, and I thought, pray for Tammy. So I did. And told her about it the next day. She said she was, in fact, doing that; and needed prayer right then.
Leila- you asked if he had drowned, and I said yes. But actually, something hit him in the head. It knocked him out, and then he drowned. Who knows what hit him, though.
Can't believe all that was three years ago already. And I just realized that his birthday falls on Thanksgiving this year.

Here are my fortunes for today (no, I don't believe in them, but Rachael gave me some fortune cookies):
"Fortune cookie says: your efforts are building." (What?) "You will be showered with good luck." (Cool.) "You like participating in competitive sports." (No I don't.) "You have an important new business development shaping up." (...okay) "Fortune is on your side. Play it for all it's worth." (Alrighty. Will do. Wait... good or bad fortune?) |
