| | I'm gonna miss Jaime when she's gone. She's moving back home to Missouri in about a month... I'm honestly not sure how I'll handle the rest of my time there at work without her She may be my best friend when it comes to the people I work with. Our personalities, sense of humor, ideals, morals, etc. are FAR more similar than anyone else I work with, and the things that we differ on, she actually respects me for. Sometimes I think everyone else just pretends and secretly thinks I'm weird. Except for Jaime, Elva, and Brandon. They're different, and we're more alike, and that's why I'm closer to them. And Jaime and I talk about everything. When I'm with her I don't go anywhere on break, I eat in the photo lab so we can talk while she's handling the front for me.
Her brother (he's 24; a Marine; just got back from Iraq) saw my MySpace and said "hey, she's kinda cute!" And Jaime said "NO!" I laughed, and for the heck of it asked her why she told him that. She said, "because I know how he is!" She told him to "forget about it" because it would never work. (And she's right.)
And there's this other customer who had a crush on me for the longest time... I kinda knew it but wasn't absolutely sure, until she told me that every time I wasn't there he would ask her and Yanet about me. They thought that was funny, and she discouraged him because, as she put it, "I wouldn't give him the time of day." (She didn't tell him that, but she explained it to me that way. And she was right again on that one.) So when he decided that wasn't happening, he developed a crush on Stephanie instead.
The other day I asked if she'd ring me up for a drink, and somehow she heard that I wanted cigarettes. I have no idea why, but that's what she got. I laughed and told her yeah, it's a new thing I'm trying out to see if I like... she said, "I wouldn't do it anyway. I wouldn't sell them to you." I smiled, and said, "good!"
I told her it was nice to know that someone there had my back.
And her son, Bradley... he's eight. He was going to call my mom last night and tell on me because I scared him. I was being bad and he wanted me punished. I told him to go for it. I also have him convinced that when the film processor starts beeping, he better not press any buttons because if he hits the wrong one it'll explode. He may be getting wise to that, though.
I'm going to miss both of them. |
