<edit>Dead Poets Society is an excellent movie.</edit>
I had no idea there were so many interviews, hoops to jump through, red tape, and paperwork involved in working for WAL-MART! I started orientation this morning (9am to 4pm) with 5 other people. One of them I already knew because we waited for interviews together, and ended up making friends with another. We broke at noon for an hour long lunch and four of us just went to McDonald's inside the store and ate together. That was good because we got to know each other better, instead of going our separate ways for the hour. I got my badge, took some tests, signed my name a zillion times, and I'm not nearly done yet. I go back Monday for more. Anyway, I'm enjoying it. Oh, and I mentioned that after 90 days I'll get an evaluation, but I had forgotten what the raises were for that. We went over that today. If you don't meet expectations then you don't get a raise. If you meet expectations you get a 40-cent raise, and if you exceed expectations then you get a 60-cent raise. Not bad at all.
Anyone want to write a soldier? My friend Jeremy (he's 22) is overseas (and if Scott and Jen and them read this, then you already know that I wouldn't even know Jer if it weren't for you.) Anyway, he said, "believe me, not getting mail is probably one of the most depressing things over here." Which I have heard from every person in the military away from home. So if anyone wants to drop him a line, his address is:
PFC Strayer, Jeremy J 556 PSB C/O 444 AG BN DET 1 APO AE 09815
Oh, and this is him. And his trademark cheesey smile:

Tell him that Bethany, his wife in Texas, sent you. lol. (I don't think either of us remembers how it got started that we were gonna get married, but it's been the joke for years.)
Ciao for now. |
