boot

I looks so happy!

Believe it or not, it's easier to get around in than the less-bulky splint they put me in at the hospital. The inside inflates to support my foot and ankle, so it keeps it elevated and I can touch the boot to the ground. I can eventually walk in it once I feel comfortable. I could not touch that splint to the ground without coming unglued.

I still can't believe it's not broken. I'm icing it again right now, so I took off the boot and looked at it. It looks so messed up. Besides being swollen, everything just looks so out of place to me.

I am glad it was me and not one of the kids, though.

EDIT: Heh... I just now saw this picture:

Beth 051

And thought, "wow, I look miserable." (Click to see it bigger.) I didn't realize I looked like that. lol.

My friend Daniel made me smile today. He saw that one of me on crutches and said
"absolutely amazing... you're obviously in pain and feel horrible, but you still look beautiful." I told him thanks, because I felt like GARBAGE in that picture. I hadn't even been able to take a shower because it hurt too much!

Perhaps a MRI is in order. I have injured my ankle numerous times, broke twice and torn ligaments once.  When I tore the ligaments, I knew there was something wrong. I went to 2 different docs finally one did a  MRI and found the mess it was really in. I had to wear that pretty little boot for 2 months AFTER 6 weeks in a cast. FUN FUN FUN.

A lady at Wal-Mart who saw me yesterday when we dropped off my prescriptions said she wore one of these for a year and 9 months, and still needed it after that but wasn't willing to wear it anymore. But now her foot hurts all the time. She should've kept wearing it. I would understand not wanting to after that long, though. I told her "I've only had it on for a couple of hours and I'm already tired of it!"

Oooooh yes... I never miss a dose of the pain meds. Because I feel it when it wears off.
