Well, a miracle happened today. Long story short, I got my leave of absence papers for work extended in about an hour or so, instead of the days it took the incompetent team to last time. Everything worked out so perfectly today. Thank the Lord for that, because I had  deadline and was concerned I would have to go through all that again.

I had a good conversation with the receptionist at the doctor's office. I was wearing an Air Force shirt, and she asked me if I was in the AF. We got to talking about all of our friends and family in the military. She said that her niece's husband is in the Marines (pretty sure it was the Marines). She said he came come from overseas, bought his wife a nice big beautiful house, and then told her he signed up for 8 more years. They must have been saving a long time if he bought a house that could be described as "big and beautiful" on a military salary He's going to school to be a doctor. Anyway, she said that her sister-in-law (this guy's mother-in-law... you keeping this straight?) one night had a sudden urge to pray for him because she felt like he was in danger. She found out later that he was in a firefight that killed a lot of people with him, and that he was on top of this guy they had to protect (I forget who he was- I was writing a note at the same time we were talking), and he didn't understand why he wasn't killed. I smiled, and said, "I understand why he wasn't." She said, "until you've experienced that, you don't understand." It's true. It's very hard to explain that to someone who doesn't understand.

It was cool to talk to her.

And on the way home I heard a very familiar song like I was hearing it for the first time. It brought tears to my little eyes...

"Take Away"
by
Mainstay

Rid me of the notion that I ever had any rights,
Cleanse me of the motives that come in such a clever disguise;
Ruin my agenda, holy as it never was,

And it's all from Your hand,
And there's nothing that's mine,
And all that You give ,
You're free to take away.

I'm just trying to hold on, clinging to the dream inside
I was only selfish, and you were only part of my life

And it's all from Your hand,
And there's nothing that's mine,
And all that You give ,
You're free to take away.

Every breath, every word
There isn't one thing I deserve
And all that I am is Yours

And it's all from Your hand,
And there's nothing that's mine,
And all that You give ,
You're free to take away.

Very true. You can't say it to people who don't understand, because they look at you like you're crazy. But it's such an amazing experience.
