| | Yesterday was a fun day just like the Titanic was a fun boat ride.
We've been ready to go do an ammonia slip test at one of the plants for
a week but Thursday afternoon they told us "there's no way we'll be
testing for over a week." Okay, so I unloaded the ammonia test gear
(about 300 pounds) and configured the trailer for another type of test
and hauled it 40 miles (that's 64.37376 clicks for you military types)
to another plant for a test series the first week of May.
Friday morning, my regular day off, I got a call from my boss at
9 am (that's 09 hundred hours for you military types) saying the plant
that told us "there's no way we'll be testing for over a week" had
called and wanted to us to do the test TODAY. In response to my
inquiry, Gaylon said no, he hadn't told them to go jump in the lake. So
off I go for the 80 mile (128.747 clicks for ...ah you know who
you are) round trip to get the trailer and bring it back to the shop
where we reloaded the 300 pounds of ammonia gear. Did I forget to
mention that the meds for my back hadn't kicked in yet. I was walking
like Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstein. Then I drove 70 miles(figure
it out for yourself you military types) and hauled that 300 pounds of
test gear up a 160' stack.
To make a long story short I got home at 10 pm after working 13 hours on my day off. At least it was all overtime.
