Our pastor spoke this morning on 4 points, but I just want to touch on 2 of them today: overcoming the past and overcoming doubt.

Too many people dwell on the past. There are things all of us have done in the past that we shouldn't have done. We regret them, but we have to move on. We cannot change what is already done. We can change what we do in the future. Dwelling on things we've done in the past can defeat us - it can cripple us so that we don't get anything done in the future. When we accept Jesus, we are wiped clean.

2 Cor 5:17.....17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!  NIV

But you know something? Jesus died and paid the price for our sins only once, but we are continually washed clean, by His blood. The process doesn't stop when we accept Him. Otherwise, we could not be forgiven repeatedly. He has paid the price for every sin we will ever commit. All we have to do is accept that gift He gives us.

Something we have to overcome is doubt. Have you ever heard someone say, "I sure hope so," when asked if they are going to Heaven? We can know for sure. We don't have to doubt.

1 John 5:11-14.....11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. NIV

Joy comes to our heart when we accept the free gift of God and do what He says. We may have times when we are sad, but the deep joy will not leave us. Every Christian must settle any doubt about their salvation. Doubt messes up your life and you will never get anything accomplished for God.

Accept the gift that God gave - salvation. The price for our sins has already been paid. And settle any doubts in your mind that God has paid that price for you.

John 9:25...."One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!"  NIV

Cindy, that sounds like a great sermon.  We had a missionary speak about his missionary work in inner-NYC.  He was interesting but he showed slides at the same time and it was hard to focus on both.  Oh well.  It was great to worship and pray almost all together! :)

Tonight we saw a very interesting video. We got a tour of the 7 churches mentioned in Revelation. Well, ok, the churches are not actually there anymore, but we saw where they were, and learned some things about the history of each church, that is not covered in the book of Revelation. It was very interesting.

Cindy, my homework for my counseling has been going along the same line as what you wrote.  One thought I had this week is....The past is to teach not to torture.  God does not change our past he redeems our past.

I enjoy your site.

Blessings!
Paula

Sounds like a good message. :) I missed seeing the Extreme Makeover - we were out of town visiting our granddaughter & her parents. :spinning: Maybe I can see it in a rerun? :lookaround:
