I was just listening to a commercial on tv. It was for Ambien, which is a sleeping pill. As everybody has to do now, they had to put a warning that said not to drive or operate heavy machinery after taking Ambien. I agree - I've taken Ambien - and it pretty much makes you unable to do those things. But you shouldn't have to tell people not to take a sleeping pill and then go for a drive. Especially if you are driving a bulldozer!  (I know Doug G....our lawsuit-happy society makes it necessary.)
 
But the warning actually should read, "If you are STUPID, don't even think about taking this medication!" Ethan did a post once on how much air it takes for stupid people to breathe. It was priceless.
 


On the way back from taking Beth to work, this song was playing on the radio. I always sing along to the songs, but this time I really listened to the words. God doesn't always calm the storm we are going through - sometimes He just lets us know that He is there, going through it with us. Storms in our lives can teach us lessons. I'm just thinking over the last 6 months, and I just hope I am learning what I am supposed to learn.

Beth was supposed to be off tonight, but Lantz begged her to work his shift for him. So she gave up her day off, eventhough she had plans tonight. He told her she could have whatever she wanted if she'd work for him. This could come in handy

You would be surprised what some people will do after taking medications.  Well okay, maybe you wouldn't.  I'm sure not. 

I have a question, what do you think about the border and immigration thing going on?  In Pa. we are kind of far away from the situation.

Hi, Doug.......BTW, I was talking to the other Doug (Mr. Paradox) in my post He's our future lawyer.

Oh, this immigration stuff......it just all makes me mad. I do not mind immigrants at all - after all, our European/Asian/African/whatever ancestors were immigrants. A couple of my favorite people were born in another country and adopted by Americans. One of them was born in Mexico. But I think they should come into the country the legal way. They should not be sneaking across the border, and we should not reward them by giving them amnesty. I have a problem with them protesting in the streets and flying the Mexican flag here. If they want to live here, then they can fly the American flag. We would never get away with going to Mexico and demanding the same rights that Mexican citizens have. I also do not think babies born here of foreign parents, should have automatic citizenship. Women come across the border just to give birth. And I'm not swayed by all this "day without an immigrant" stuff....saying that our economy would tank if they didn't do the jobs they do. Hogwash. Who do they think use to do all these jobs?

Not all Hispanic people are on the side of the protestors. My brother-in-law is Hispanic, and I don't believe for a minute he is for it. But then, his family came into this country legally, as well as families of some church friends of ours.

It is extremely likely that I am distantly related to Vicente Fox, Pres. of Mexico. I'm not sure if I'm proud of that or not. He doesn't seem to have America's best interest at heart.

And our borders need to be guarded better. If we can't catch all the people who are already coming across the borders, we aren't likely to stop all the terrorists who might try it, too.

If we'd reform the tort system and shoot all the ambulance chasers out there, these ridiculous warnings would disappear AND lawyers would have a better reputation. :p

In the meantime, I think the only warning label should be on cars. "WARNING: DO NOT DRIVE IF YOUR LAST NAME IS KENNEDY." :laugh:

I agree, but the 14th Amendment is a pesky bugger when it comes to this. "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." Of course, this just shows the need to protect the borders.

Thanks, Doug....I like those lyrics. I think maybe we just need to change that amendment. I know that's harder to do, but we need to consider it.
