I'm not really doing much so far today. Still having pain caused by the RA. So I don't have a lot of choice but to take it easy. Which drives me crazy. I'm not a "sit still" kind of person. I did wash the dishes, though.
It's been raining today. And it's pretty quiet around here, except for the cats letting us know they want outside. Rachael is at work, Brandon is gone to another shooting contest, and Beth is getting ready to go to work till 10:30 tonight.
Last night after the Bible Study, we stopped by Walmart. Even when I walked out of the store about 11:00 p.m, it was still so hot and humid, it felt like being hit by a wet blanket. TJ said the high was in the 60's yesterday in Colorado Springs. I'm jealous. I'm ready for fall weather. For us that means late November.
Carolyn had posted part of this scripture passage, and it's one I have always liked. I decided to post the verses after it also. This is from "Today's English Version".
Ps 33:12-22 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD; happy are the people he has chosen for his own!
13 The LORD looks down from heaven and sees all mankind. 14 From where he rules, he looks down on all who live on earth. 15 He forms all their thoughts and knows everything they do.
16 A king does not win because of his powerful army; a soldier does not triumph because of his strength. 17 War horses are useless for victory; their great strength cannot save.
18 The LORD watches over those who obey him, those who trust in his constant love. 19 He saves them from death; he keeps them alive in times of famine.
20 We put our hope in the LORD; he is our protector and our help. 21 We are glad because of him; we trust in his holy name.
22 May your constant love be with us, LORD, as we put our hope in you. TEV
There is no version of the Bible that translates every word from the original scripture, absolutely perfectly.
Some versions say "Blessed is the nation". The Hebrew word used in this scripture is esher, which means happiness. So those blessed by God are happy.
Some versions also say, in verse 18, that the Lord watches over those who "fear" Him. I've never thought "fear" was the best word to use, because it doesn't really mean fear as we think of it. It means to revere, to respect, to honor, to obey.
So....people are happy when they honor and obey the Lord. It's that simple. People try to make it complicated.
