Caroling

I am so glad we can go to church and have fun. This morning in Sunday School, we got to laughing, and we laughed till my stomach hurt.

Prov 17:22.....2 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.  NIV

It's good to laugh. It feels good. It brings people closer together, and makes you look forward to the next time you'll be together. It lifts depression. And if you do it right, it's exercise

While we were laughing, I was thinking of a friend who would have enjoyed that laughter, and I was wishing they were here. I think it's sad that some people think Christians don't have a good time. They just haven't been with the right Christians   People don't have to be sticks in the mud to honor God. God invented laughter, and He said it does your heart good like medicine. So go ahead and laugh.

We went Christmas caroling last night. We went first to a nearby nursing home and sang as we walked the halls. Then we went to the homes of some of our shut-in members. They always enjoy us coming to sing for them. I won't say we are good singers, but we do make a joyful noise.  Then we went back to the church for hot chocolate and homemade cookies.

At the nursing home, I recognized a lady that use to live here in our city. She and her husband use to be precinct judges here in Deer Park, and we saw them every time we went to vote. They also presided over the precinct meetings after election day. I stopped and talked to her a few minutes. Her husband died several years ago. She appears to have had a stroke because she had difficulty talking.

There is a man in the nursing home who spends his time running a model train around the Christmas tree in the foyer. He said during the Depression, when he was 5 years old, he wanted a train just like one someone else got for Christmas. He said it took him 70 years, but he got one. He obviously enjoyed running it around the tree.

No complaints yet from the kids about deer glen?  well, if we are approved, i'll be moving my g-ma to Primrose new year's weekend.  I'm dreading the move but so thankful she finally said, let's GO.  The other day, she got four letters about how they are going to "fine" for such and such and one "holiday" letter!  Our city government recognizes Jesus in Christmas those ya~hoo's over there think they are being politcally correct and they can't even spell correctly!!!!!  Do i sound angry?  You bet I am.  Thing is we are not breaking the lease.  She is going to have free rent at Primrose until April 1st.  So, we'll just pay out the lease.  See, we gave them a deposit for $500 for the dog but the previous management sort of turned her head to the fact that my grandmother also has a cat.  well, now they are saying they want another non-refundable deposit on the cat.  AND they say they are going to charge a per pet fee of $10 per month.  Yeah right, THAT is not in the lease.  Oh, and the trash.  M~W~F were days that the residents there could put their trash out on the stoop now they are saying they are going to FINE you if you do that.  I want to see them collect all these fines!!!!  I'm dreading moving g-ma but i'm thrilled she is going to be in a better place, safer and cleaner, and newer.  She'll be on the third floor facing Pasadena Blvd (north)....at least she'll be able to sit outside and enjoy it.  We DO have to get her a washer and dryer...that is the only drawback.  But it's all good.

See ya!

Hey, Jamie.....I haven't heard any complaints yet. We knew about the pet deposit and per month fee. That's why their pets are still here. They even charge a pet fee/deposit for an aquarium. Brandon has a 55 gal. and Rachael has a 55 gal that holds a turtle. She also has a 10 gal with fish, but they are still here.

I was wondering just the other day if you had looked into Primrose. It looks like a really nice place.

I believe it was in a letter. Maybe you should check at the office and see.

:goodjob:Ah, that was a neat story about the man with his model train. We had some good laughs at church Sunday morning. Due to the choruses put on the screen, a computer program is used. I guess the guys forgot to turn it off, & the Windows' theme music loudly went through the sound system as Pastor was preaching. The whole congregation (& Pastor) were laughing; but the Pastor also lost his place in his thoughts, which led to more laughs ~ again including his own! It's important to be able to laugh at ones' self!:lol:
