Update 1:00 p.m...Bethany has a job. She starts Monday morning. And about the letter from the lawyer to the CVS employees.....we have turned it over to a lawyer, who is handling it for any of the employees who wish to join the group. He has already said this letter was not handled properly.
Tonight I am grilling steaks and ribs for Rachael's birthday. She has to work till at least 7:00, so I have plenty of time. Glenn, the friend from church who did the grilling for the wedding rehearsal dinner, told me just how he cooks ribs to make them falling-off-the-bone tender. But now he says he has to kill me.
Happy 25th Birthday, Rachael!

We still have an unspoken request that needs prayer.
I was sitting here, feeling rather down, and asking God to show me the scripture He wanted me to read. I had a scripture with a different meaning in mind, but I started reading, and this one really jumped out me.
Ps 84:11......11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. NIV
So many times, people think that Christians are deprived or don't have any fun. "Those poor Christians....they have to settle for that kind of life." But nothing could be further from the truth. That scripture says "no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless."
Now we know that nobody is actually blameless, because we all do things we are not supposed to do. But when we accept Jesus, our sins are covered - He paid the price for them already. So in God's eyes, we are blameless. He sees us as without sin - otherwise, we would not be able to get into Heaven. And for those who try to obey God's commands, their walk is blameless.
He does not withhold from us, things that are good for us. What is good for one person, might not be good for another, so in a way, our good things are custom made for each individual person.
And might I suggest that even things we don't view as good, might still be good in the eyes of God? Our pastor is always saying that God doesn't do things the way we think he should do them. He doesn't do things the way we would. That's why He's God, and we aren't. Might a death in the family be good? It certainly would not seem like it to us. In fact, it didn't feel good when our daughter died. But it did turn out to be good for us, because of the lessons learned from it. The valley of the shadow of death is not a fun thing to go through.
Rom 8:28-29......28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. NIV
Yeah.....He doesn't do things the way we would do them. He didn't even let me find the scripture I intended to find. | | | | |
