He's Home

Carolyn (RaZeHeLL) had  this video  on her site. It's good.

My cousin, Ross, is back on American soil

In a little while, Rachael and I are going on a kitten rescue mission. Bethany said someone dumped a tiny kitten in the garden center corral. It has something wrong with its eye. Depending on what it is, we might be able to treat it. She said it's scared to death and hiding under the pallets of dirt. And maybe we can find someone who needs a kitten.

UPDATE 5:45 p.m....We did not get the kitten, but we made progress. I went into Walmart and bought 4 cans of catfood while Rachael tried to find the kitten. We set out the food in a couple of areas, and finally found the kitten. She ran under one of the pallets of dirt, so Rachael put a can of catfood under there. The kitten did let her pet it, but it was under the pallet, so Rachael could not grab it. There wasn't enough room. She and I took turns getting down there to talk to the kitten. You know, when you are lying down on the concrete in Walmart's parking lot, people drive by and look at you funny.   And the security lady driving around in her little car, kept looking at us rather strangely. We figure  the security tapes will be entertainment for those working tonight  But it is a cute little kitten, and it just has an upper respiratory infection, so it's not an eye injury.

Tomorrow's another day. After my doctor's appointment. We'll try again. But at least the kitten has been fed today - it ate half a can of catfood. Beth will feed it again tomorrow.

Afterwards, I took Rachael to HEB. Brandon was home when we got to the apartment, so he helped carry in groceries. I know I have a biased opinion, but when I was watching him walk up the stairs, I thought, "You know....he's really cute!" We had a teenaged girl visit at church yesterday, and she obviously thought he was, too. She needs to know he's married.

Thank you, Carolyn! He'll be at Ft. Hood for about 4 days or so, and then back to his home by this weekend. At least that's the plan.

I will, Sharon. Thank you. He did not want any welcome home party, so we won't have one. That bugs me, but it's the way he wanted it.

I'd likely kiss American soil if I ever had to go to Iraq. Good luck on your kitten mission! One of our cats has an eye injury from when she was a stray. I'm not sure what happened but it doesn't seem to really affect her vision all that much

That is so exciting he is back safe!! I remember that feeling all to well when our son & son-in-law got back from Iraq...such a huge relief!! Our son found out that he will be going back for his second tour no later than Dec. 1st! I am not looking forward to that at all!
