Happy Easter

Update 9:35 p.m.....Mark wore his hat that Beth made today. There was lots of laughter. It was kept hidden until it was time for Mark and Brandon to take the offering. Mark put the hat on to walk down the aisle and everybody cracked up. It is a lime green, floppy-brimmed hat with pink and purple flowers around it, and lots of ribbon. Bro. Herb explained to everybody his love for the ladies to wear hats. Then he said, "I just wish some of these ladies would shave a little more often." Mark has a beard and mustache. Beth and Andy both got pictures of Mark in the hat. After church, Brandon put the hat on with his Oakley sunglasses, and they got pictures. I'm quite sure those will get posted

We had a great service this morning. Beth, Dave and I sang He Touched Me, as a trio. Then Laura, our pastor's daughter, sang Via Dolorosa. When we have done our Easter play, that's what she sang, as Jesus (played by Brandon) came down the aisle carrying the cross. Then Beth sang Why, and people were fighting tears. You can hear her song in my last post. Andy played a very rousing rendition of Power in the Blood. There was lots of clapping to the music and hollering Amen. Some of you Presbyterians would have fainted   Then I sang They Could Not. Bro. Herb was shouting "glory" a lot.

You could really feel God working in the service. It's so clear when He is giving the direction for the service, and strength to those who are singing and preaching.

We came home and put baby back ribs on the grill. We also had brisket, buttered noodles, green beans, and Brandon made brownies. Before we ate, Beth went on a chocolate scouting mission. She came back with Cadbury eggs and a chocolate bunny for each of us

Now we are watching
Happy Feet.

the "smaller" cadbury eggs?! :wha: Embarassingly, we did not attend church today, but we never found a good one here that we felt at home at.... or one that wasn't trying to rook us out of money. Yes, one even brought in a BANKER as a guest speaker to tell us why we need to give MORE and how a congregation with that many people wasn't giving nearly enough. That was the last time we went there, let me tell you! HAPPY EASTER, friend

Happy Easter Ladies.

Lauryn, in our church, we teach tithing, 10% of the "first fruits", which is 10% right off the top. But our pastor often says just before the offering, that we do not expect visitors to give. It is the church members that should support a church.

Christy....I didn't give it to you. I thought Beth did. I'll get an address from her and send it to you. Sorry about the mix-up.

Oh, I forgot about the chocolate...

Yes, Lauryn, it was the small Cadbury eggs. That was all Walgreens had today. Since I don't have to make up Easter baskets anymore, I forget about getting chocolate. They still like it, eventhough they aren't little.

Let's see, Christy....she also got M&M's, Reese's peanut butter cups and Nestle crunch eggs. I forgot about all those.

Then Beth sang Why, and people were fighting tears.

Big deal. People cry when I sing too.

It sounds like you had a wonderful Easter! Yes, our service was simply wonderful! The messages in song and in word were powerful. I don't know the name of the song that our senior Pastor sang, but it was so powerful, I was expecting Jesus to come walk out on the platform! Praise God, we serve a living Savior!! :sunny:

Mike and I had leftover meatloaf, stir fried vegies, & rice for lunch. Then we had a much needed nap. It's been a nice peaceful evening ~ nothing special ~ working at the computers as usual. Have a great week!

Hi, Carolyn.....

I was expecting Jesus to come walk out   That's the way I felt today. The music was powerful. And it was one of those times when we knew God was doing the music for us, because none of us have the strength to do it like that. Bro. Herb always says we aren't called to do things in our own strength.

Beth said she would post the hat pics tomorrow. She's going to bed now....has to be at work at 7:00.

 Hi Cindy, thanks for the visit... Happy Easter! :) Glad you had a great Easter.

What do you think of the sudden change of weather, especially last Saturday? It was cold and wet in our area.

Have a great week!:sunny:

That weather change was crazy. It went from shorts weather to coat weather. We were working at the church when all the rain happened - outside.

Hi!  That's a lot of music in one service!

ryc:  my Easter was pretty nice.  I cooked.  Our nephew came up from A&M.  We found him a ride home with somebody on THIS side of the metroplex!  I cooked, we ate and cleaned up a bit, I took a nap, read, talked to the kids.  Very restful.  Thanks for asking!

Have a wonderful Monday!

"my knees were screaming at me"  It's not my knees that are my problem but my ankles.  After a long day they get so stiff I can hardly walk.  I severely sprained my right ankle when I was pregnant with Dan.  It still retains water to this day.  In the summer it looks like a club foot.  I broke the left ankle in a car accident using it to brake which is a No No!

Sounds like you and the family had a GREAT Easter!!!  We had a great service with the Children's Choir singing, the Ladies Ensemble, and then the choir.  Our choir folder was so heavy after we were finished and sat down the muscles in my arm were quivering.  We have got to go to using sheet music!!!

Jennifer had a college guy friend come visit for the weekend.  He lives in Knoxville, Tennessee.  I thought that was quite brave of him to visit on Easter having never met us before.  All In all we had a good weekend even though Ashley and Dan couldn't make it home and Doug's mother was put in ICU on Saturday night.

I am setting aside time to get around to visit other Christians on Xanga who know the joy embodied in a celebration of resurrection Sunday. May we all continue to look forward to our own resurrection in Christ because of the price He paid for our salvation! Blessings to you and your family.

It was good. It's not one I would watch over and over, but then not many movies grip me like that! Some parts are a little suggestive , so it's not one I'd show to the youth group at church. But it was cute. You have to wonder, though, if it wasn't written more for adults. There's a lot in it that kids won't get.

I was the fourth of eleven children in my parents family: five boys and six girls. Four of the five boys were born with retinitis pigmentosa that resulted in gradual blindness. The fifth boy, who was second to be born, had no eyesight problem, but he and a neighbor were both electrocuted while rasing and antenna tower in the dark in 1976. Jim was 33 when he died as that tower came in contact with a high tension electric line, and he left a wife and four children.

Oh, Mike...I'm so sorry about your brother. I worked with a girl whose husband was electrocuted on the job, at 23 years old. They had a one month old baby. I've always had such a fear of electrocution - not to myself but to my family. When Steve or Brandon are on the job, it scares me.

I had no idea there were so many children in your family. Our pastor's wife is the oldest of 12 children. I had a great-great-great-grandfather who had 26 kids. They needed television!
