Make it Home

Sharon (justhopingnow) is back up and running. She recently moved from Athens, GA to Charleston, SC.

We ususally have a special music program for the Sunday before July 4. Beth and I sing, and in the past, our pastor's daughter has sung with us. I love the 3 of us singing together as a trio.

This is one of the songs we have done for that program. I ususally have difficulty making it all the way through the song.

Letters From War

by Mark Schultz

When we did this song in 2004, we did a skit, too. Brandon dressed as a military man coming home from WWII, and Kathryn played the mom.

The song was written about one of Mark Schultz' relatives.

This is from Word Records' site, written in 2004:

Word Records recording artist Mark Schultz and his hit single "Letters From War" (from the album Stories & Songs) are the centerpiece of a public awareness campaign entitled "Be Safe - Make It Home" recently launched by The U.S. Army. The Army has experienced an unusually high rate of accidental fatalities this year. This video will be used in conjunction with other educational materials to raise awareness of this problem, reverse the trend, and keep more soldiers safe in the days ahead. The Army is asking everyone in the U.S. to leave their front porch lights on throughout the night on Sunday, July 4, as a reminder to all soldiers to "Be Safe - Make it Home".

Because of that campaign, for this video, the last lines of the song were changed from "bring him home" to "make it home", a message to our military today.

 I was sure I would not be able to sing it when we first performed it, because I got choked up every time we practiced or it played on the radio. So the day came for us to sing it in church, and Beth was the one that cried :giggle: She had always been able to do it before. But her eye caught Ethan's memory book nearby while we were singing. He was in Iraq at that time.

Truth be told, I can't make it through the song just singing it in the car!  Hmmm, Livi loves that song...maybe that could be one of her 3 that she sings in August?

Hope you guys are doing well...everything here is great...just haven't felt like blogging lately.  You and Bethany are two of my favorite xanga friends and I miss not being around as much!

Back to work...I'll chat with ya later!

Melissa...maybe she can do that one. It's tough, though.

I love July 4th! I have a friend who's baby is due that day - lucky!! No breakfast in bed for me, unfortunately. We haven't heard from them ever since the Hubs told them it's a no-go on leaving our own house!

Well, thank goodness you haven't heard from them. That just seemed a little too suspicious to me.

RYC:  Last Thursday was more or less a getting to know you kind of thing...what our concerns were, behavioral patterns, etc.  Butch is taking him to his session today.  Hopefully they'll come up with some good solutions that we can implement at home.

If you've got any tips or suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
