It's Monday...We go back to see the rheumatologist tomorrow afternoon.
Stoplight: Smokey the Gore
3:25 p.m....When I was at Best Buy, there was a guy that got arrested at the front door. I don't know what he did, but I assume he was trying to make it outside with something he didn't pay for. There just happened to be a cop in the store, and he checked out 2 ahead of me. When he got to the door, a couple of the employees approached him, and were laughing and talking. I don't know if they knew each other or not, but they seemed like friends. Then I looked back at the purchase I was making, looked up again, and the cop was cuffing a guy and making him spread his feet. He read him his rights, and told him something about not trying to get away again. The guy was not being the least bit cooperative. Imagine that. When I was getting in the car, an ambulance pulled up, so I thought maybe the guy had gotten hurt or something. Maybe sick. But the EMT's must have just been shopping on their lunch break.
Wheezer is home, and she is not one bit happy. She growls at everybody and everything. I just sat and held her for a while, with her grrrrring at me the whole time.
I took Wheezer to the vet this morning. It wasn't easy, but I did manage to get her in the cat carrier. She didn't like it. Since cats that are not happy have claws at their disposal, I had to scruff her to get her in the carrier. I'm not fond of my arms getting shredded. I just don't understand why she is so scared of people. Her 2 sisters love to be loved on. I have to pick her up at 2:00.
And I went to get my driver's license renewed. See, it expired on my birthday, which was Saturday. About 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, I remembered that I had not done that. And the DPS office isn't open on Saturday. So I took my chances and drove to the vet and the DPS office this morning, with an expired license. The wait time in the DPS office was an hour. And I didn't take any reading material. So I just watched people. It's really an interesting thing to do.
Did you know that now they require a Social Security check to renew your license? Well, when they ran mine, it came back as not matching my license. They said my SS account was still in my maiden name. Well, I know that's hogwash because I changed my name on my account right after we got married. I worked for several years after that under my married name. We file our taxes with my married name. I get a statement quarterly from the SS Administration, in my married name, telling what my retirement amount would be. Or won't be, as the case may be. So somewhere somebody made a mistake.
It didn't cause a big problem, though. I did not have my Social Security card with me, so she just took my word for it that I am the same person. Besides, my driver's license has both names on it, because I use my maiden name as my middle name on legal stuff.
I stopped by the church, since I was going that way anyway, and checked on a car that has been parked in our lot for days. I left a note on it that it would be towed if it wasn't moved, and I wrote down the license number. Both the inspection and license tags on the car are expired.
And, while I was there, I stopped a small problem with the City of Houston water department before it became a really big problem.
So that's been my day so far. And I just remembered that I didn't stop at Best Buy and get more printer ink. I guess I better do that before I pick up the cat.
I seriously need a nap. |
