People who spew vitriol and venom at Christians are really starting to bug me. I still love 'em, but I find myself tempted to wish a swift kick upon their ass-side. In the last couple of weeks, I've been working at a Christian high school camp and our church's vacation Bible school. I can say with absolute conviction, that I've just spent two weeks with some of the best people on earth.
Sure, we've all met our fair share of church-goers that act like jerks - a frighteningly proportionate ratio to those outside the church - but it's wrong to judge the whole on the faults of a few of the parts. I've never encountered the depth of compassion, kindness, and humility among "non-Christians" as I have amongst a great number of Christ-followers. People who jump on the bandwagon of bad-mouthing Christians are often guilty of the "log in their own eye while trying to remove the speck from a brother's eye."
One trend that absolutely needs to hit the skids is the "Christians cause nothing but hurt in the world" mindset. Last week's VBS reminded me of how often that sort of thinking is nowhere near the truth. Two years ago, a region in Indonesia was suffering from a cholera outbreak. The culture there enhanced the spread rather than slow it. A few Christians found a local to translate a story about how to stop the spread of cholera. They recorded the story but needed extra tapes and crank-powered players to get it into the ears of the suffering people. Twenty-five elementary aged kids at our VBS asked if they could raise money for the need. In one week, they came up with exactly enough to spread the word about fighting cholera. That year, only 8 people had to be hospitalized and only one of them died. Reports coming in today state that those Christian kids probably saved the lives of thousands through their initiative, generosity, and kindness. So, for those who enjoy bashing Christians, let me quote one of your favorite misquotes: "Don't be so quick to judge."

Man, I'm dead-dog tired. Made it home from speaking at a high school camp and suffered only a couple of glorious wipeouts (one during Capture the Flag, the other while being pulled in a tube behind a ski boat). Have a full schedule of painting and staining for this week and am coordinating our VBS program every evening this week.
It's never safe to pass out from exhaustion. You never know when your teenage daughter will sneak up on you with your own camera.

I have been called away for an emergency. A local high school Christian camp had its speaker cancel four days before the camp begins. I'll be filling the vacancy so I won't be posting or visiting other sites for a while.
Somehow, it doesn't seem to make much difference. Xanga seems to be dying a slow death.
Is it just my often faulty perception or do you sense it too? And if it is, what's causing the demise?

Words like "change" and "hope" hold a plethora of meanings to a vast assembly of listeners. They only make the hearer feel good about Barack Hussein Obama. In essence, the "democratic" (now synonymous with Marxist) candidate is nothing more than a stealth ventriloquist. He's been speaking out of his butt and both sides of his mouth for more than four years and few of us can even realize it.
