| A very happy Fourth of July to you all!!! Summer has been very busy of late, and I have been working a quite a number of things. I'm posting this to let you all know the latest news... In The News: 1.) Work has been going great! We actually just bought the only gun shop in our county to become the only (and largest) retailer of firearms and accessories. I'm really excited about this, as I get to work the firearm sales position a lot more, and talk to all my gun buddies, veterans, and colorful characters. We're in the process of moving all of the newly aquired holdings over to our shop for transfer, and then we have to start on the paperwork, which is going to be very consuming. It's really been a blast at this job so far. 2.) I have set up an official movie blog for my movie on our backpacking trip, with links to download the finally finished trailer. The blog is here: Band of Brothers : Official Movie Blog 3.) I have decided to close Xanga. I will actually leave the account open so all my old friends can find me, but my main blog and online social center will now be my Blogger blog, here: The Republic : Grant's Blog Have a very happy Fourth, and stay safe!! Peace! | | |
| Hallo! Well, besides looking for a new internet company and training at my new job, there hasn't been much time to post the updates on Xanga, but here I am! New Job. Finally, after three years at Walmart, I have a new job, where I feel like I am moving forward, albeit slowly, towards the future. I hope it will only be temporary, but I thought that about Walmart too, so we will have to see. I am now a pawnbroker, working for National Pawn and Jewelry, where crazy adventures and ninja skills are at an all time high, at least for me in this point in my life! It's been so wonderful. Not even ideal, but the change from Walmart has left me in awe of how stress can impact ones life. Now, with only one manager and one co-worker, I can see how horrid the stress and situation actually were at Walmart. I'm having a blast, inspecting game systems, selling firearms, and becoming a licensed pawnbroker for the State of Texas. It's actually a lot like banking. So work has been a blast, and it's given me a lot of free time back! I've also started working on the backpacking trip movie in earnest, so I've tried to focus a lot of time on that instead of online time. Since my internet company is upgrading again, and I have a lot of downtime, it has been working out pretty well for the production. I should have the trailer site finished soon for viewing, so stay tuned. Duces! | | |
| Today is May 12th. Not a particularly significant day to everyone else, but a very interesting one for me. On this day in 2005, I began working at Walmart. I needed an interim, summer job until I could find my professional niche opening, but low and behold, today is the anniversary of my 3rd year at Walmart. I'm surprised I made it this far, and I also find it very ironic that I am very close to quitting said job, having found another job for the time being. I worked really hard and endured a lot of drama and hardship, so that I could achieve this anniversary (three years of inventory experience and customer service look GRAND on any resume), but I find myself in that anticlimactical state of "Well, what now?" However, said new job is amazingly fitting for my skills, not to mention some degree of ninja requirements, which I do happen to possess. I shall write more when I start my new job, and let you all know how I like it. For now, I'm off to Walmart for a very celebrated, albeit ... odd... day! Cheerio! | | |
| Wellll, what does one say? After so many days in absentia, without as much as a hello from me, I'm sure many of you have mourned me for lost, a mere internet skeleton on the waves of cyberspace. However, those of you who know me a little better know that my job pretty much swallows me whole, and the rest of my free time has been going to drama of late. A massive wedding that was a massive disaster (from a perfectionist standpoint anyhow), a job that has rapidly turned into indentured servitude, and many of life's small and insignificant catastrophes, tsk, tsk, such an existence. However, I would have managed something, correct? Perhaps a small token such as a short post, touching base, etc? Exactly. Had it not been for my newest woe. Computer hardware failure! Computer software failure! Computer virus infection! YAY! These past two weeks, or from the wedding on the 12th until now, have been fraught with computer difficulties, beginning with a simple virus infection that skyrocketed into a major catastrophe. One thing after another. So my friend Phillip and I have gradually began piecing my internet/computer command center back together, and hopefully it will be fixed soon, so that I shall be able to breeze along with nary a care in the world. All this goes to show... ...buy a Mac. (one of my wonderful soapboxes) Thank God for my little router that feeds a flickering connection to my laptop. I shall return!! | | |
