  • How to give a proper hug!!!

In light of the requests for the various topics I mentioned yesterday, I decided that a blog on how to give a proper hug was one I could easily write.  Please keep in mind that this is only because I have gone back to playing FFXI and they have a built in windower, so while my mage is resting, I write.  Three cheers for multi-tasking please!

So, I got to thinking yesterday about why it is people even bother to give weak hugs to other people.  I mean, a hug should be a sign of affection right?  It should be something you want to do.  It should be something you embrace *har har har*.  Why is it then, that some people leave you feeling like you have had snails crawling all over you after you hug them?  Because of this attitude, I have complied a list of the different types of hugs.

    The Bear Hug

This is the person who given any time for any reason squeezes the ever loving beegeezus out of you.  Normally, this is the kind of hug I like.  However, there is a certain time of the month for about a week, when these hugs are a horrible idea.  First off, breasts swell at that time of the month.  They swell to the size of cantaloupes, and hugging us hard enough to make them feel like you are trying to push them through our back is not a good thing.  A full hug without trying to squeeze us like a stress ball is preferred.

    The Patter

I hate the patters.  You know, the people who walk up to you, offer the hug themselves, and then act like there is some kind of invisible barrier in between the two of you while he/she reaches around and pats your back.  WTF kind of hug is that?  It is only acceptable when a woman is pregnant and you literally cannot touch her completely while you hug!

    The In and Out

This is the kind of hugger who jumps in, hugs you quickly, and jumps right the heck on out again before you even have time to realize you received a hug.  Perhaps they are afraid they smell, perhaps they are afraid you smell.  Some questions may never be answered, but the in and out hugger is kind of odd.

    The Lingerer

The person who hugs you for far too long!  The person who doesn't let go.  This usually happens in intense emotional moments, like funerals.  You don't want to let go because you know they need the hug, but on the other hand it is very uncomfortable for the person receiving the hug.  This also can happen at the end of a first date when they might want to kiss you, and won't just let go!  Lingering is generally only OK if it is someone you want to progress with further in a physical manner.  If that is not the case, just hug and let go!

    The Perfection Hug

Not TOO long and not too quick.  The person presses against you and wraps their arms around you.  They tuck their heads across your shoulder and give you a 2-3 second hug.  That is perfection my dears.
