Each one of us is unique in all the world.  In all the universe, even!

I wonder why that's so easy to forget and so hard (albeit necessary) to focus on?

Because we usually know most of the people we see day to day on a superficial level.  We just don't have enough hours in the day to get to know everybody deep down, much as we might like to.  Therefore, we must focus very deeply on those we can know.  In knowing each other, we become more deeply human ourselves.

I think because even though society seems to appreciate uniqueness, it also pushes and demands conformity on so many levels.  Being "unique" doesn't have anything to do with your clothes, hair style or profession -- it's being true to your spirit, your loves, your happiness.  We just need to look inside a little more and outside a little less.

i think it's too much to comprehend, frankly. it's beyond our capacity to fully understand.

but thanks for the reminder.

You're wrong.  Don't you know you're either Republican or Democrat?  Either conservative or liberal?  Either left-wing or right-wing?  Either with us or against us?  ROFL!  At least, that's what a lot would like you to believe.  Have a great weekend!

So much of the time I see my uniqueness as things that are my flaws, which makes me not want to focus on them. However, there are moments when I look at myself (outside and in) and realize that all those things are what make me beautiful. I'm hoping that those moments happen more and more often. Kisses, Kate

Truth.  When my children asked me why I would grieve the death of someone, when I believe in reincarnation so firmly.  I reply, because there will never be another exact combination of spirit, body and environment that was that person again.  What they will be will continue, but what they were is gone from us now.  That lost uniqueness is worth grieving.
