Things noticed and/or observed over the last few days...

...camaflauge-painted VW Thing with the top down...a Harley-Davidson roaring down I-75 North (and kinda west) into the sunset...the first hummingbirds I've seen this summer at the feeder...a chipmunk running along the privacy fence rail...squirrels perched on top of the bird feeder...2-3 toads in various places in the yard...pale pink climbing roses blooming...darker pink rosebushes also blooming...2 pink peonies amongst the white ones...one last royal purple iris by the front gate...birds splashing in the birdbath...a blonde and her companion driving a mid-80's Mercedes 560 SL, black, with the top down...my younger daughter growing up...my son refusing to grow up...the cats sleeping (wait, that's all they DO...)...

I love hummingbirds. My mom feeds them and although they are beautiful, you have to watch out! Those things will dive-bomb your head in the blink of an eye...kind of scary, actually. -Kate

growing up is hard.

i saw a huge toad in the garage last night. i tried to usher him out but he was quick (as toads go) and stubborn. i hope he didn't get stuck in there, because if he did, he's baked.

It's great to notice things for a change. I have a daughter who never wants to grow up. That's ok with me. I just give her permission. She's got lots of time.

I love how you note your observations. I always carry a notebook with me so that I can do the same. I don't like fleeting thoughts that provoke my senses. I want to hold on to them. Nice post. (My daughter is growing up too -- age 11 -- Is there a stop button somewhere so she can stay this age forever???)
