Mean Mr Mustard

Mean Mister Mustard sleeps in the park,
Shaves in the dark
Trying to save paper.
Sleeps in a hole in the road
Saving up to buy some clothes.
Keeps a ten bob note up his nose,
Such a mean old man, such a mean old man.
His sister Pam works in a shop,
She never stops, she’s a go getter.
Takes him out to look at the Queen,
Only place that he’s ever been.
Always shouts out something obscene,
Such a dirty old man, dirty old man.

One of me fave Beatle tunes....

And speaking of tunes....here's what Musicmatch pulled from the tracks stored on the PC hard drive when asked to choose 1 hour's worth of jazz, rock, and pop/rock..."Lean On Me" & "Sweet Georgia Brown", as performed by Gene Harris..."Oracle" by Sheavy..."Alpha Centauri" by Tom Grant..."Demon's Eye" by Deep Purple..."Read About It" by the Living End..."I Believe" by Chris Isaak..."Bird Calls" by Charles Mingus..."My Love" by Brian Bromberg..."Shipyard Town" by Gerry Rafferty...and "Here In Your Bedroom" by Goldfinger.....

It would be very, very hard to even narrow down a dozen of my favorite Beatles songs!

I've actually never heard that song --I'll have to dig it up. [ps - you are now officially "on the list" - a proud moment for you, I'm sure]

I'd be hard put to pick my favourite track.

Out of interest, what was the first 45rpm you ever bought?

we had a halloween theme party a couple years back, and everyone was s'posed to come dressed as a beatle or a character from a beatles' song.... I considered dressing as mr. mustard, but my wife and i, as hosts, figured we'd better be john & yoko, from the 'milk & honey' days. (in case you're interested, some of our guests were: dr. roberts, lovely rita, father mckenzie, [the girl that] came in through the bathroom window, maxwell [of silver hammer fame], and magil / lil / nancy.)

OH!  I remembered the piano music I was talking about last week - John Boswell.  Two of my favorite pieces:  Skye Boat Song and Eastern Star.  Beautiful piano music, in my humble opinion.

re: your comment on my site -- yes, the VW camper is a vanagon - 1990 Westfalia, fully equipped camper with full pop up top, fridge, stove, sink, snap on back hatch screen, the works... even a Rhode Gear bicycle rack that goes on the back and holds 3 bikes.

Steve remembers the first 45 he ever bought, and what it cost too - sixpence and eight, and I forget what the song was, LOL!  Oh yeah - something by Freddie and the Dreamers (ugh!)

I like Mean Mr. Mustard but I only listen to Abbey Road in its entirety - never one song on its own.  Dunno why, I always have though.

I once had a girl or should I say she once had me
She showed me her room, isn't it good Norwegian wood

She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair

I sat on a rug biding my time drinking her wine
We talked until two and then she said: 'It's time for bed'

She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh
I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath

And when I awoke I was alone, this bird had flown
So I lit a fire, isn't it good Norwegian wood
