and in geology i'm learning about rocks... and we're doing volcanoes next lecture, hurray! does anyone want to go to the NJ palisades with me? from geo i've learned that it would be a really neat trip. they're where this guy Bowen studied and came up with the
"bowen's reaction series" that talks about when magma cools what minerals will crystalize first. he studied at the palisades b/c in the cliffs you can see the evidence of a magma pocket that cooled and hardened far beneath the earth's surface, and, over time, has been moved up and eroded into view
