I SAW IT ON LARRY KING....
Oh Lord Not Michael Moore!!
Sometimes I like Larry King. Last night he had Michael Moore on. Lawd! I'm glad I hadn't eaten! Seeing Moore triggers my gag reflex. There are 3 people who make movies I can't stand to hear speak. Barbra Streisand, Susan Sarandon, and Michael Moore. And it's not because I'm so conservative I won't deal with liberal opinion. Whenever those 3 talk it's just garbage. Sing Babs, act Sarandon, um....er....uuuuuh....Michael just take a long walk off a short pier into shark infested waters.
I'm willing to listen to sane liberals. I like Obama, though the more I learn about him, and his voting record, and thinking the more he slips in my estimation. He's smart, passionate, and very savvy. But last night he got the kiss of death....Michael Moore likes him.
I listened to Moore as much as I could...it was a valiant effort, and I made it through about 10 minutes, and a bottle of extra strength Pepto, before I had to shut the "Idiot in Chief" off. What I did hear was about "soaking the rich". If there is one thing that burns me up it's the whole "soak the rich" nonsense. Personally I don't care about amassing wealth. Anyone who really knows me will tell you money just doesn't get me excited. I'm a fairly big detractor of Christians worshiping the American Dream. Having said that I have to say that taking from the rich to give to the poor is also against Christian ethics. So am I now defending Capitalism???? Not so much....It's the whole "confiscate from one group to give to another" which burns me.
Here's an idea for you: If you want to stick it to the rich/corporate America then stop buying their products! Want to stick it to big oil? Trade your car for a bike. Want to get evil Bill at Microsoft? Throw out your PC, and don't ever use one! (And no you can't go over to Apple). when I pass you on the road I'll honk at you to show my support! When I'm browsing the web, on my notebook, over my cup of designer caffeine, I'll give you the thumbs up, as you try to find stamps to mail your bills.
Not gonna go for it huh??!! Didn't think so...not the American way is it? No the new American way is since I'm an American I'm entitled. What am I entitled to exactly? Well, evidently, to the redistribution of wealth. Mikey Moore, and his candidate Mr. Obama have been making a lot of noise about STICKING IT TO THE MAN!! Yeah!!! Get them rich guys and make them pay!!!!! Cause they're rich, and that's not fair!!!
Reminds me of an old saw we used to quote very often when I worked with homeless people...."Give a man a fish, and he will eat today. Teach a man to fish, and he will feed himself." Here's a novel idea: Why not, instead of trying to beat them, you JOIN THEM??!! Why don't you get off your lazy, entitled butt, complete your education, work extra jobs, take on lots of loans, and then make your dreams come true the way those rich guys did???? And here's an unthought of fringe benefit: You get to prove the elitists wrong. And if you're African-American you can have another fringe benefit: You can throw off the yoke of intellectual slavery to stupidity that the likes of Rev. Jeremiah Wright are trying to keep you under.
"Yesterday, Wright also espoused the racialist doctrine that blacks have "different" learning styles than do others. This doctrine of racially different brains, or of an unalterably different black culture, is a doctrine today used to justify various soft bigotries of low expectations regarding blacks, and especially black children. It has a long pedigree as a rationalization for injustices. Slaveholders and later, segregationists loved it." "....Wright's rhetorical contributions to MCCain" Op Ed Piece, Tuesday April 29,2008, by George F Will, syndicated columnist with The Washington Post,
I honestly do not like anything which helps polarize this country, and as I've said in the past I do not believe politics ultimately serves God's ends. But stealing from people and perpetuating the idea that stealing is moral, as long as it's from rich people, falls squarely into the bailiwick of Judeo-Christian thought. It doesn't matter how much Bill Gates has, neither you, nor I, nor the Government of the United Nation...er...States, has the moral authority to STEAL. I believe in government, and I don't mind paying my taxes for things the government should be doing. You know, building roads, maintaining the peace, maintaining our national security, and the like. I gladly pay my taxes for such things. But pay taxes to the government which then uses the IRS like a resurrected Gestapo, goose stepping their way into the lives of my fellow Americans????? ARE LIBERALS LIKE MOORE OUT OF THEIR FUCKING MINDS?????? Elitist isn't the word for people who think like this. Traitor!!! Is a much more apt word.
Going back to my original idea....you know the one where Americans who feel entitled get off their butts, and then work those butts off, until they too achieve their dreams??? Well I'll tell you this: You work your ass off building a business, and amassing wealth from your own blood, sweat, tears, prayers, faith, and God given intellectual property, and when the IRS comes knocking you'll stop being an "I'm entitled" liberal! You will be instantaneously transformed into a stone cold CONSERVATIVE. Baby when you make the money for yourself, the only people who are entitled to it are those you choose to give it to!!!
Redistribution is just another word for STEALING!!! It's a lie, it's unAmerican, It's evil, and Christians need to say so! We do need to stand up for justice, not matter how we feel about it. None of us are free as long as one of us are being oppressed. This ain't about defending the rich, it's about standing up against THEFT!
THAT'S MY 2 CENTS!
Lonnie

Thank you especially for George Will's paragraph. Where can I find his entire article?
@sonnetjoy - I got it out of Tuesday's Courier-Journal....local newspaper. Try The Washington Post's website
Blessings,
Lonnie
Lonnie, I have a question... how do you deal with idiots who... how do you say... say that they are Christians but have the most insane views? I'll get into more detail eventually, gimme time.
~Marti
@ShipsKlutz - Most of the time I don't. If they are in my life I continue loving them, and if opportunity presents itself I ask them questions about what they claim to believe and how that lines up with orthodoxy. Most of the time it doesn't work. If the professed beliefs run completely counter to what Scripture teaches, and they are running around shoving it off on everyone, including me, there is often a confrontation. Once there is a confrontation I don't have any further problems with them. They don't generally like being around me after that, and I don't generally mind that they don't want to be around me. I'm not what you would call a shrinking violet.
Loves Ya,
Lonnie
Thanks for your kind words on my blog. I appreciate your sincerity, and I enjoy the candor and fresh perspective of your writing. God bless.
No not a hypocrite you did not do this in a polarizing manor. What were supose to do say you like that rather hypocritical and very dishonest fellow. And taking from the rich is simply theft. if you want to give to needy causes, do so. But don't vote take that money from someone else. then think yourselves noble for voting to steal.
@trunthepaige - I try hard to stay out of partisan politics. But I don't believe Christians should sit quietly by while the poorest of the poor are oppressed, or when those who have much are being oppressed either. It may well seem defending the rich is pointless, but I'm not defending the rich. The point is stealing is stealing.
Thanks for the input!
Lonnie
@abide1 - You're welcome...."candor and fresh perspective"....Never heard that one before. I usually get descriptions of the 4 letter variety. Thanks!
Another blog on politics huh?
I'm usually attacking Christians who've sold their call from God for a political agenda. I'm neither a Dem, nor a GOP member. I don't really care who gets the White House all that much. I think any of the three candidates could do the job. My point is stealing, even when done by governments is still stealing, and that seems to be liberal think, rather than conservative.
The only thing that will change the direction of this US is Jesus Christ.
Lonnie
I firmly agree with you. What they really ought to do is give more tax cuts to the poor so that they can amass more money for themselves. What's the sense in taking a bunch of money from poor people who are working hard to try to get themselves above the poverty line...just to take that tax money to spend on paperwork and filing and salaries...and then give a small percentage of it back to help them? They should also take alcohol and cigarettes off of the food stamp so that people will buy what they really need. If they want to buy that stuff with their own money, that's their right, but why should we pay to feed their addictions?
So many good points here. Great post.
Lonnie, you should see Susan Sarandon in "Enchanted". She is awesome when she turns into a dragon and climbs the skyscraper.
I enjoy your blog usually, but you lose me sometimes when you make statements like "Are liberals like Moore out of their f#@&(^@ minds?" You try to change the world with your postings and present an image that you have everything figured out, and much of the time I agree with you in spirit, but sometimes you take on too much language of the world while you're trying to promote the question of what would Jesus do. If Jesus used this language of the world, I don't think I would listen to him as closely or reads his words so passionately. I can be passionate myself about many of the issues you write about, and I know it's just a word, but it puts off many people.
Just a thought for you, to be more persuasive in your postings to those who read them.
Absolutely, Lonnie, and I'll take you one further. Stealing from the rich isn't just stealing, but it is downright abusive to the little guy. The 'rich' are the people and businesses that employ people and create affordable goods and services for us. You can yap all you want about 'big pharmaceutical companies' like they're some evil giant, but I thank God everyday that those big pharmaceutical companies had enough capital to invest in the research and development of my cholesterol-lowering medication, which I can now get for $8 a month.
So what's wrong with Michael Moore? I feel he is consumed by hatred and resentment and a not insignificant dose of ego. Not a good mixture of personality traits.
And re: "Barbra Streisand, Susan Sarandon, and Michael Moore"--Wow! That's my top (bottom) three, too!
@carleton1958 - First I think Sarandon is a top notch actor. I'll watch most any movie she's in, I like Babs too. When they are doing their work they are incredible, but when they speak Lawd someone get a big ole bag o'socks!
Believe it or not I do struggle over the language sometimes. Most of the time the bad words are rare these days. You will see hell quite often, but the context is such that I'm using it properly, but it's the "S" word and the F-bomb that really gettcha! to some extent I agree with you. I had a very difficult time with this one, mainly because I don't disagree with all liberal thinkers, and was kind of afraid my more liberal readership might take offense. But the F-bomb is a true reflection of what I think about those who believe what Moore is espousing with "soak the rich".
Obama, may well surprise all of us. My fear with Obama is he's been too insulated by race driven politics in Chicago. Don't misunderstand me I am not saying he is racist, but it's the 'black power' in Chicago that he's been a part of. That's why the guy was hanging out with Rev. Wright. Wright is a very politically powerful man in black Chicago politics. As much as I truly believe Obama isn't like Wright, he's still been influenced greatly by all of that "group" think Wright's been stewing in for 50 years.
I'm hearing what you are saying and I will consider it as I go along in my blog. I'm not making any promises.
Lonnie
Well said. It's all a huge conspiracy. And what bugs me is that people actually think filmmakers and actors have all the answers and "if so-n-so says it, it MUST be true."
@musicisoxygen - WHAT STATE DO YOU LIVE IN??? I don't know any state where food stamps can LEGALLY be used to buy booze and smokes. People do it, but it's illegal as all get out. Actually the stimulus package that's in place now is geared most toward lower income earners. Not sure a few hundred dollars will do the trick, but every little bit helps.
Actually what will help people is not a hand out, but rather learning to make and amass wealth themselves. That's what people need to move forward. Read the "Just a Thought" box above my profile pic. One of the great problems is people keep casting themselves as victims. Victims never win. You can't feel entitled and make your dreams come true.
Lonnie
@lovelyastrid - Sorry I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories. It's just the nature of elitists. Well educated people don't think most actors know what they are talking about, and we need to get a lot more people educated in the country.
Lonnie
@SnoozleToo - I tend to agree with you. Moore's disease is Elitist Think. Elitist Think is that they should have all the power, because they are the only ones worthy and smart enough to have it. The unwashed masses are too stupid, ethnic, and poor to know what to do for themselves.
Freedom from tyranny includes freedom from the oppression of Elitist Think.
As usual Mrs......um....Snooz...there is a great deal of food for thought in your comment.
Blessings,
Lonnie
Living in Chicago I think I agree with you... A lot of things go over well politically here that would not fly in more conservative, more socioeconomically level, or less ethnically mixed areas of the country. Of course you can always count on the dead-person voter base, as well, and they do tend to vote Democratic for some reason....
Did you ever see that Monty Python routine where Robin Hood kept on taking from the rich and giving to the poor, until the theme song began to play, "He robs from the poor and gives to the rich..." and Robin Hood stopped his horse in perplexity as the narrator explained that he had taken so much from the rich and given so much to the poor that they were now reversed? It ended with him holding up a carriage in the woods and forcing the passengers to redistribute each other's possessions until they all had exactly the same amount of money...
What we need, IMO, is not Robin Hood to rob the rich to feed the poor, but the rich to step up and voluntarily help the poor out of their own pockets. Understandably when the rich don't do this the poor can get a bit testy, which does make a Robin Hood figure seem rather appealing.
@Pass_the_Aura - The very successful should help to instill in the poor around us the wealth of drive, ingenuity, education, and opportunity. While it would be nice if the very wealthy gave some of what they have. It would be far more useful if they would open up and share their wealth of intellectual property.
The leadership model Jesus gave us is the best leadership model for business as well. If the very successful would act as shepherds who lead with real concern for people as well as profits poverty would begin to drop. Create more successful people working at their full capacity, and you'll create more opportunity, for the next generation.
A HAND UP, NOT A HAND OUT!
Lonnie
@Such_Were_You - Hear, hear! Are you listening to this, Mr. Trump?

@Such_Were_You - Texas. And though I may be mistaken about the alcohol, cigarettes are definite;y either on the list or bought so often with food stamps that it migh as well be legal.
WOW! You make some pretty valid points. I agree with you on the idea that so many people feel like they are "entitled" to things these days. The Govt doesn't owe anybody anything, and you certainly shouldn't count on it.
As an atheist liberal, I agree with your view that the rich should not be taken advantage of. They earned their money, they deserve to keep it. But I do think a growing concern is the fall of the middle class, and the growing belief that in a few years the middle class will all become lower class while the upper class stay where they are. I don't believe that the rich people should have their money redistributed, but I do think that there needs to be a better capitalist system that gives everyone more of a chance- even if it means increasing minimum wage once again to allow for a better standard of living. If Bush is willing to spend so much money on a pointless war and make our national debt astronomical, then hopefully he would at least consider a moral cause like this to add some more debt.
Of course, I have begun to think that all of this is foolish, every single aspect of it. The planet is fucked, man, and we're to blame. We're becoming poorer and poorer, we're being stripped of our rights, and we're living in a place where democracy has ultimately failed us. Obama won't save us, Clinton won't save us, and McCain won't save us, and NO, in times like these I really don't turn to Michael Moore or Dave Chapelle or Oprah to get me by. It's all like a monopoly game to these media buffoons, except for that the game board is set on fire and they're still trying to buy properties and count their fake money.
@Such_Were_You - Elitist Think is a trick that's as old as society. Fight on!
@Pass_the_Aura - Lupins!
