nobody xangas anymore  they've all run off to facebook and myspace. oh well, i'm still amused by xanga  since i havent written anything all summer, here's a trip worth posting...the annual nyc/suki bday bash!

:: NYC :: Semi-organ reunion :: Early birthday bash for Suki ::

since ms mel finally returned to the states, we thought it best to have our own separate semi-organ/suki birthday time (we missed you marielly!! )  sarah joined in and we rode up chinatown bus style.  yes i know i swore never to ride it again but dammit, it's so cheap!  then we (as in sarah and mel since playing made me bus sick) played some travel scrabble and mel tried to teach us the tricks of the trade.  after a slow 4 hours later, we finally arrived, ate some food, cabbed to suki's new place, said quick hellos since it was very late and suki and dan had to work the rest of the week. 

:: Coney Island ::

since mel has been a professional world traveler this past year, she really wanted to do all the touristy stuff this trip.  for some reason, she had an itch to go see brooklyn so sarah and i subwayed all the way to coney island with her. it actually was very nice. i've never been to brooklyn and coney island is so quaint! the weather was gorgeous this time and it was nice walking around by the shore, eating nathan's famous hot dogs and drinking beer (haha see how HUGE sarah's beer cup is?)

then the par-taying began with happy hour at agozar! buy one, get one free mojitos and sangria works for me!   the food was soooooo good! i am a converted cuban food lover if it always tastes this good!  here all the mel fans came out to say hello but only the hardcore ones came out with us (note: this was a thursday night so the weak ones went home early. boo! haha jk! you know i'd be the first one to go to sleep! haha that is if you can even get me out on a thursday night ) anyway, after happy hour, we headed over to some hotel lounge near the empire state building.  the rooftop lounge was "so LA" according to mel  there some random guys started talking to sarah and i at the bar. we kept giving each other looks that were code for "just give me the look when they start getting creepy and we'll run" but surprisingly, they were quite entertaining and hilarious! i'm pretty sure everything they said was a bunch of bs (who does magic for his job??) but tom and boris joined the group and entertained us all (they are in the pic with sarah. i think they were both in love with her) but soon we ditched them for some karaoke cuz mike really really really wanted to sing.  after a few songs and some soju, it was finally time to go home.

the next day, was rest day.  i think we saw daylight for maybe 2 hours when we met suki up for lunch at this super cheap japanese restaurant.  then mel left to say goodbye to a friend. sarah left to say hi to her uva friends. i stayed in with suki after she skipped work and we napped and watched scrubs.  when everyone came back, we went to dinner at the woolworth restaurant. we practically had the entire place to ourselves.  the food was very good and the owner was super nice and gave us free drinks (you know that's the way to our hearts ) then sadly sarah had to go home for prior engagements and mel's bro dan arrived (he will now be referred to as "dynasty" from here on out  since we dont want to confuse him with suki's dan)  anyway, we decided to stay in and play drinking games.  let me just say, that was one very interesting and fun game of kings cup! i think we learned a lot about each other..well some more than others. i'm just glad i wasnt playing with anyone i was related to!

the next day was quality time w/suki since mel was having quality family time.  after soup dumplings, we walked and shopped in soho and i finally had pinkberry. it's ok. it's very refreshing but i'm glad i'm not hooked cuz i'd hate to always have to wait in that line!  anyway, this night was semi-organ night. we had a reunion dinner at paladin (i think that's what it's called. all i know is that is says "latino" outside) since that's where we ended up one trip.  mmm their mojitos with sugar sticks are so good! well, i thought they were good but mel and suki said it tasted strong and that they used cheap liquor.  i dunno, it tasted good to me! but OMG the food was delicious! haha i was too busy eating to take any pictures of the steak or shrimps or ceviche.  after dinner, we headed over to essex for mike fu's birthday.  the place was alright but it got to be more fun, especially when mel and i pressured suki to drink. drunk suki is fun  everybody drunk is fun  hehe we all got tipsy and really wanted to dance to "it's britney bitch" hahaha! come on, dont lie. you secretly love that song too and cant help dancing to it.  so we left and went to fat baby for like 15 minutes, which was perfect cuz as soon as we got in, we all said, we want to hear "it's britney bitch" and i swear, 5 seconds later it came on!!! it was meant to be. then we headed home and were silly dancing in our booty shorts.  i dont think we went to bed until 4:30!!

but all things must end and it was time to go home.  why cant we all live in the same area?? oh well, that just means more trips to visit!  i'm just glad we still keep the suki bday reunion a tradition

whew...that was long. hope you enjoyed cuz i probably wont be writing for another few months!
