| | Feelin Gassy
The gas station that I fill up the car at is not close to my house. It is the closest in the neighborhood that does not have any homeless people or stray teenagers lurking about asking for money or cigarettes or beer. Needless to say, it is a very popular place to get gas by the masses.
I drive up there today and I see cars three deep in all of the bays. Not a good omen at all. I look at the sign, and the cheapest gas runs for $3.09 a gallon. I usually get the cheapest gas. I don't really care about the extras one can get in the gas for twenty cents more.
I'm a sitting there and a sitting there and finally cars start to move out. When I get up to the pump, I realize that the gas station is out of Regular and Super Premium. Gone. Nada. Zilch. I think, okay, I'll get the Premium. No biggie.
I start to fill up the tank, and the pump is going super slow. I mean s....l....o....w...
I call for the attendant and she replies "Help you?" but it comes out like "Hepu?"
"Hello. The gas pump is going very slowly. Is there something wrong with the pump?"
"No, they've been like that all day. We are on our last tank of gas." which comes out of the speaker too jumbled to write on this civilized blog.
"When are you going to have more gas?"
"Next week sometime."
She couldn't tell me when there would be more gas going to that station. I'm glad that I filled up when I did. It did take me about 20 minutes to fill my little tank with the slow-going pump...but I got the interior of my car cleaned out while I waited. I didn't want to pay $3.29 for the mid-level gas, but I'm sure the price is going to rise. |
