This Ain't Gossip, Girl
Y'all know that I love my trash television, and today I found out that my trash television (or atleat the network president) loves me! Gossip Girl, The CW series based on the books by Cecily von Ziegesar, is a hit. The CW network is so pleased with the show that they’ve already ordered more episodes, making it the first new series this season to get a full-season pickup. Take that Private Practice, you new-agey piece of shit. For those of you not in the know, Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of young, rich, bored teens on New York's Upper East Side who attend private boarding schools while scheming, clawing, lying, druggin and sleepin their way to the top of the social ladder. The series mainly centers around the lives of former best friends, Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldor and their man Nate Archibald. See Blair loves Nate, but Serena slept with Nate and then ran out of town! It's okay, though. Serena is way prettier than Blair, so I would have slept with her first, too. The series is narrated by "Gossip Girl" (voiced by Kristen Bell...yes kiddies Veronica Mars), who runs an anonymous blog about her fellow schoolmates while stirring up the shit in her vicious circle of friends. There are tons of cute boys playing basketball and the yummy Matthew Settle (a former Friday Flesh-er) plays a dad on the show. There are rumors of more flesh and drugs and sex and sin in the weeks to come. If you haven't tuned in to the show yet, get onto the iTunes. The show’s past two episodes are ranked in the Top 5 downloads. CW President Dawn Ostroff told press, “People everywhere are talking about Gossip Girl, and we believe this show will continue to build audience as it builds buzz. Schwartz and Savage have created an incredibly heightened-reality world that viewers are locking into, while advertisers, affiliates and press have also embraced the show. The series has earned its early pickup, and we look forward to a long run on the CW.” It also didn't hurt matters that last week's episode had the characters going to The Ostroff Treatment Center....and giving their money and their support to the center. But, I'm sure that had nothing at all to do with the early pickup....and frankly I don't care. I'm just stoked that it will be on for the rest of the season. Long live The Ostroff Treatment Center! |
