So I am home sick from church tonight.  Might as well take it out on somebody...

The Astros got revenge on the Cardinals to the tune of 4-1 this afternoon.  Andy Pettitte threw six innings and allowed four hits (including a homer), Chad Qualls picked up the win with two perfect innings, and Lidge got the save.  The big play was a two-run triple in the bottom of the 8th by Mike Lamb to break the 1-1 tie.

Our friend Tom DeLay is in trouble again.  Of course the media hate him because of his stand on the Schiavo case, but there's more to it than that.  I have big questions about his ethics over the past few years; the last thing we need is another Newt Gingrich.  His local support is starting to slip: Chronicle polls show him down several percentage points, and he squeaked by in a race against Richard "Mr. Nobody" Morrison last November.

Perhaps he will stay in office for a long time, but I doubt he will ever become Speaker.  If these ethics issues get out of control in the next few months, look for a tough primary fight that the Hammer will probably lose.  My pick is Sugar Land Mayor David Wallace (whom, everyone agrees, is going somewhere... or at least wants to go somewhere).

Remember: you heard it here first.

DeLay should just resign now so his party can hold his seat in the special election. If he stays in and continues to get hammered, survives a tough primary battle, and then goes in the general election as the much weaker candidate, he might really regret it.

No, the time has not yet come.  Delay and Wallace are in cahoots, the party is grooming Wallace to take over Delay's position.  Wallace will not run against Delay unless the party is desperate.  Tom Delay still has party backing, and he seems to be friends with Wallace.  Until Delay becomes a liability, he's still firmly in control of his seat.

Hello Jacob,

My name is Winston, and I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your posts on strength_and_honor's site. I agree with you completely on the constitutionality of the Patriot Act. I also am especially glad to see you're a Republican, at least I hope you are, you act like one. Currently I'm having an debate with ShayeC, another poster on his site. I know her personally and I'm trying to suede her. But once again I really do appreciate your comments, they strengthen my arguments as well as my belief in the righteous ness of our President. Well anywho, I have to go.

Winston

P.S. love your Winston Churchill quote as your heading.

I hate baseball.  Actually I started to get into some of the play-off games, but got rewarded with a crushed spirit when the Astros lost.  I decided to avoid the pain and not get into to begin with this year.
