| | So I am home sick from church tonight. Might as well take it out on somebody...
The Astros got revenge on the Cardinals to the tune of 4-1 this afternoon. Andy Pettitte threw six innings and allowed four hits (including a homer), Chad Qualls picked up the win with two perfect innings, and Lidge got the save. The big play was a two-run triple in the bottom of the 8th by Mike Lamb to break the 1-1 tie.
Our friend Tom DeLay is in trouble again. Of course the media hate him because of his stand on the Schiavo case, but there's more to it than that. I have big questions about his ethics over the past few years; the last thing we need is another Newt Gingrich. His local support is starting to slip: Chronicle polls show him down several percentage points, and he squeaked by in a race against Richard "Mr. Nobody" Morrison last November.
Perhaps he will stay in office for a long time, but I doubt he will ever become Speaker. If these ethics issues get out of control in the next few months, look for a tough primary fight that the Hammer will probably lose. My pick is Sugar Land Mayor David Wallace (whom, everyone agrees, is going somewhere... or at least wants to go somewhere).
Remember: you heard it here first. |
