| | Tonight was Dan's party to say goodbye to everyone before he goes off to Miami on Wednesday. I was really looking forward to it. Only a few people were there - Spencer, Laura, Greg and Cheryl. Sad, though that Gili and Adrienne couldn't make it. I won't be saying goodbye to Adri any time soon, but I've known Gili since sixth grade and I want to see him off to Ohio. Being that this was Dan's house, we played video games. I don't make it any secret that I hate video games. I don't have anything against them per se, but I just prefer other ways to spend my time. Especially with other people. The same goes for TV shows and movies. When I hang out with people, I generally want to be with them. Maybe I am born a generation late because sometimes all I want to do is talk.
So, yeah, we played the vidja games. There were times when I felt so incredibly ignored and I didn't know how to assert myself. I pulled some shit that I haven't done since 8th or 9th grade, like pretending to take a nap and seeing how long it took for everyone to notice I was gone. That didn't work. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive. Whore for attention might be more like it. I felt really, really bad for whining tonight because, after all, this is the end for The Group and it's no way to go out. But this summer it's already felt like The Group was gone because I've been around different people and did wildly different things. (Ha! They didn't believe I was in the pit on Wednesday!) Sometimes I don't mind that we're saying goodbye, because I'm so excited for what's coming up. Sometimes I miss everybody so bad.
I am getting to know my roommate via thefacebook. His name is Daniel too but, thankfully, he goes by Lyle. He lives in Harford County and I asked him if he would like to meet in person before school starts, and he suggested we meet at BWI Airport. (The perfect crime, he said, because everyone will think we're long-lost friends meeting at the airport.) The guy seems like a total spaz (in a good way) and I love it! I pray, though, that he does not like video games. I'm not sure what I'll do otherwise. |
