Every architecture dork is supposedly born with a love of Frank Lloyd Wright and his masterpiece, Fallingwater. However, I feel the same way about him as I do about Kurt Cobain: they both did a lot for their movements - Wright for modern architecture, Cobain for modern rock - but I just don't like their work. But yesterday I went with the freshman Architecture majors to Pennsylvania to visit Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, another Wright house. It was a four hour ride through rain and fog and mountains in a tiny van with six kids and Lee, our associate dean. And when I got to Fallingwater, this is what I found in the gift shop:

Show me the Nirvana candy bar and then talk to me. I admit I was converted. Fallingwater was spectacular. A fucking orgasm of concrete and steel suspended over a frothing stream. check it out!
