Joyful Joy For JoshuaThen he said to them, "Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10 (NASB)

Wow, it’s been a couple of days since my last post.  God had a busy schedule prepared for me... but He also gave me the strength to make it through.  He has inspired me lately, to look more in depth to the disputes between Muslims and Christians... It has become increasingly frightening at the cowardice of our world towards the Muslim culture.

The very basic freedoms of our country and many other countries are being sacrificed to appease the Islamic agenda...  Look at how the world has responded to the Danish cartoons recently... Muslims have again lashed out against a group of people due to something that we take for granted... A cartoon is no reason to commit atrocities such as:

At least 13 protesters have died after Danish and Norwegian embassies, and offices linked to France, Germany, the European Union and the World Bank were attacked by Muslims in Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, the Palestinian territories and Indonesia.

 protest

It is especially disturbing to see the rallies by Islamic extremists who carry signs like those in the picture, calling for the destruction, murder, and overthrowing of governments.  They respond to Christians saying that if Jesus was portrayed in a political cartoon that we would be offended and do similar acts of destruction...  While I agree that Christians would be offended, we would not lash out at those people.

Christ teaches,

"Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.  Respect what is right in the sight of all men" Romans 12:17 (NASB)

Instead in Romans 12:19-21 (NASB)

"Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God for it is written, 'VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,' says the Lord.  'But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head.' Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

So what do we take from this?  We know that we should definitely make attempts at reaching out to the Muslim community.

Matthew 28:19 (NASB)

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Acts 10:42 (NASB)

"And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead."

As Christians we are called to minister to these people, for without Christ they are doomed to eternal separation from God (Hell).

Mathew 25:41 (NASB)

"Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels.'"

As Christians living in America, times like this should stir us up and remind us of the tribulations that Paul, divinely inspired, talks about:

Acts 14:22 (NASB)

strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in faith, and saying, “Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.”

However, we shouldn’t let that terror eat at us, remember what we are told:

John 16:33 (NASB)

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

Additionally, Paul explains to us that through these trials we will grow as Christians!!

Romans 5:3 (NASB)

And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

In conclusion as Americans we cannot continue to give up our religious rights!!  Our forefathers came to this country for religious freedom based on Christianity!!! Our government was set up under the authority of God including basic Christian values and morals.  We must strive to keep these freedoms and not give them up to appease other cultures… Otherwise the days of persecution are right around the corner…

What has giving up our morals and values gotten us??? Abortion, higher suicide rates, excessive drug use, evolution taught in schools, businesses working on Sunday, the Ten Commandments taken out of the courtroom, prayer from school… The list goes on… Are we any better for it?

Well, today has been a very slow day... I believe that I did pretty well on the last exam yesterday, and that God is 17,698 for 17,698 in coming through for me!!  I have pretty much been studying all day today... For some reason my professors all ganged up on me (They must have had a group pow-wow) to give me three exams in one week...  Tomorrow's exam is on Security Analysis... Ugh!  All of this financial work can make one's head spin....

Mostly, its about trying to determine the efficiency of the market to past, present, and future information....yet no one knows how to do that... And somehow they grade you on how well you can predict market efficiency even though no one is able to do it consistently!!! Thats like grading the ability of someone trying to make a cat land on its feet when its dropped from a 100 story building and having it LIVE!!!

Well, enough of my rambling... I'm sure that if its God's will, he'll come through for the 17,699th time in my life...And that there is a divine purpose on why I'm taken such a crazy class... Thank goodness or I might go crazy myself... Just Kidding.... Well have a wonderful rest of the day and have fun at church tonight.

In Christ,

Josh

Well, I can't hold it back... Oh, I just so excited, so happy, so blessed by the Lord God my Savior... He never ceases to astound me with His Love, Compassion, and Wisdom...  He blessed me beyond all expectations so far today... If you haven't guessed it, I just finished my first exam in Entre... well you know, that class...

Anyway, I prayed that He would give me an open mind and help me to remember that of which I studied and He blessed my socks off... (I love that saying...its such a Christian or maybe even a Southern Baptist thing!!!)  I knew the answer to every question, I mean EVERY QUESTION!!! and I finished first and the Professor looked at me like I was going to ask him a question... not turn in the exam : )    Well, Now its time to resume studying for today's Exam #2...Pray that God gives me wisdom and understanding, while I take that one...

In Christ,

Josh

Exam Time...

Well its one of those days again in the life of a college student... Two exams today... One in Entrepreneurial Finance...(Hope I spelled that right) and one in Ecology of SW Florida... where they preach....(whoops, I mean teach) evolution and tell us how closed minded us Christians really are... Boy do they have a surprise for them behind Door #1.

Anyway, It was an exciting morning... I got to help unload a wire mesh truck... You have to stand on top of the truck in order to hook the forklift to the sheets of wire mesh... Its like 25 feet off the ground.... You can see pretty far and its pretty nifty how peaceful it is to do this at 7 o'clock in the morning...

Well, I got to read Leviticus 14-17 this morning... Very interesting... Talks about all the sacrifices the Israelites had to go through when they sinned or became unclean... Thank Jesus for His ultimate sacrifice or I would have slaughtered an entire herd of sheep and goats for last month alone!!!  Well onward Christian Soldiers... Its time to enter the missionfield/battlefield... Hope to see you out there!!!

In Christ,

Josh
