Baptism for The Church Building
I was reading the site of Rasclus. Here is part of her post:
"I was on the phone with my bf for 3 hours today. We had a really nice chat, except for the part where I told him I would wear red instead of white should I marry one day and that I cannot marry in the church since I am not member of any Christian church. (Note that I am living in Germany)
He said 'then just get baptized.' What a stupid suggestion! I cannot JUST get baptized in order to marry in a church! It would feel like I am using God for my own benefit. If I should get baptized one day I want to really believe in God."I knew a person that got baptized so he could use a church building.
Would you get baptized just so you could use the church building for your wedding?

no. That's wrong.
First!!! NO WAY!!!!
i feel like if you do believe in God getting baptized is no big deal, and if you don't... then getting baptized is still no big deal, because it means nothing to you. so i can easily see why people would do it.
No Way!!!!!
No, I would think that if you aren't a member of a church, it wouldn't necessarily be important to you to get married in a church. And if it's important to the person you are marrying, then why are they interested in marrying someone who it isn't important to?
nope
are you nuts?! I don't care THAT much about getting married
I not a Christian and I got married in a Christian church without having to prove I was Christian. I didn't lie about it either. Of course, my husband is Christian.
Absolutely not. Just get married somewhere else if you're not approved to marry in the church.
No, even I think one shouldn't do such a thing.
no way, thats just jacked up
Nope. I'm not going to join a religion, even nominally, just to use their wedding facilities. I don't like the idea of making a public commitment that I didn't intend to follow through with.
The guy probably isn't much of a Christian either, to not respect the sacrament of baptism enough to even require her to actually BE a believer to get married! He's marrying a non-Christian, if that tells you anything.
She is confusing actually getting married with the wedding ceremony. To legally get married requires a pen and a trip to the courthouse.
Sure...why not!
No, that's disrespectful!!
no.
I would get baptized just to seduce young girls.
Last time I tried I was severely burned.
no.
No, I wouldn't.
i read that same post. i have to say i respect her for respecting the church.
"I would get baptized just to seduce young girls."
This belongs in a hall of fame for lines written in xanga-land that reveal utter puerility.
nah
I hope I would have more integrity than that. However, I had a Southern Baptist church insist I be re-baptized to join their church because they wouldn't accept my baptism from the Freewill Baptist church I had attended in my teens. It's always bothered me that they pressured me to do that, and it bothers me even more that I caved in to the pressure.
