  • The White Vote

Hillary Clinton pointed out that the white vote is voting for her.

She gave an interview with USA TODAy and said, "I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on."  She pointed out an article written on the Associated press "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

Hillary Clinton has won six out of 10 white votes in both Indiana and North Carolina.  She lost North Carolina and was close in Indiana because 9 out of 10 black voters voted for Obama.

Hillary Clinton does not believe it is divisive to deal with the race issue and white voters.  She said, "These are the people you have to win if you're a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election. Everybody knows that."  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think it is wrong for Hillary to point out that she is getting more white votes than Obama?

    It doesn't seem very smart.

  • bizyma

probably not the most PC thing to say, but that's like asking if obama would get more of the minority vote b/c he's black. dumb dumb territory she's prancing on....

  • UnworthyofHisgrace

The decisions they BOTH have been making show they will be TERRIBLE decision makers as a President. I wish I had someone other than Mccain to vote for that could WIN. I just hope Mccain picks a decent running mate so I won't feel so crappy when I vote for him.

  • fullmetalbunny

...I'm a white, working-class American who didn't even GO to college. And I voted Obama.

  • seedsower

I would think that she would concertrate more on the women voters than on race.

  • shortiegirl99

Probably not the most PC thing to do - But she is grasping at every little straw she can find, because she is losing and needs to do what ever she can to win.  Sadly, I'm not ready to vote for ANY of the candiates that are running...it is really sad when I can't convince myself that one of these people is a good candiate!

  • papercup_alibi

I voted Obama and I am just like fullmetalbunny. I only went to college for a semester and didn't finish.

ps - can you get online?

  • CrazyXBeautifulXDisaster

Hilary makes me want to vomit.

  • nidan

    You're joking, right?

  • paoguy118

No, it's the truth. John McCain will be our next president because he is going to capture two-thirds of the white voters in this nation. Many white people are afraid of a Barack Hussein Obama Jr. presidency.

  • Anothermadhousewife

I totally agree with Unworthyofhisgrace.  I haven't decided yet if I'll hold my nose and vote for McCain or "protest vote" for someone who can't win.

Anyway, yeah, that might be smarter for Hillary to talk about with her campaign strategists, though it really doesn't seem like it should be so taboo.

  • leslieburditt

No I don't think it is wrong of her. Everyone points out how Obama gets the black votes and no one seems to care, so why can't Hillary point out her white votes? The race issue in the United States is broadening and it is getting out of hand. No one cares if blacks think they are better than whites or if blacks point out racial views but if a white person does it, all hell breaks loose. It's just like BET(Black Entertainment Television). If we had White Entertainment Television we would be racist. Get over it, Hillary's pointing out statistics collected by The AP. That's all.

  • angi1972

No... I mean it IS a race issue to some extent... why ignore it... not only is it about race but gender... I don't think anyone is forgettting or ignoring any of that.

I think she is stating facts... although I am not sure I agree with her. I think that if Obama is the canadate he would gain many white voters that were hers...

Let's look at it this way... I don't think I know one person who WON'T vote for him because he is black.

  • aj_mudd

I dont know about right or wrong...STUPID? yes. The name "fucktard" comes to mind when I think of her.

I've been listening to why people are voting for which canidate and VERY few are voting based on the issues. It is based on personality, gender, race, etc. That seems so petty to me. I have always voted based on issues and voting record... I guess I don't understand why anyone would base their vote on any other reason! We're not picking the prom king and queen here!

  • RedHairedCelt

Not the most intelligent thing but he's pointing how how he's getting the black vote! Tit for tat. Literally.

  • theScalesandtheScorpion

it isn't wrong of her, but I think she is off base.  Before the South Carolina primary, there were questions of "is Obama black enough?" as she was totally defeating him in the black vote.  His strength then was young voters and college educated whites.  Where he stands now isn't reflective of what he can attain.  Besides, there will be a time very soon where she will be called on to do her part to win over all democrats to Obama's campaign.

  • theScalesandtheScorpion

actually we do have White Entertainment Television.  It is called Fox News.

  • Momma_U

Here's a solution ... everybody who plans to vote for McCain should drive during the day with their car headlights ON ... those who want to vote for either Hillary or Obama should drive at night with their car headlights OFF.  That should take care of the problem ...

  • purpleritz20

Yeah. I think it's plenty stupid. Idk just a random opinion.. It's quite stupid if you ask me.. Very hasty generalization.

  • UnworthyofHisgrace

@IssyMae - Exactly, NONE of them have been making decisions that would show leadership as a President! It's like sibling rivialry!  Man, what I would have given for a Thompson/Huckabee ticket!

  • UnworthyofHisgrace

@Momma_U - And Mccain supporter stay off the road at night so they can still be around

  • UnworthyofHisgrace

@theScalesandtheScorpion - At least Fox reports the TRUTH!!!!!!

  • dingdongdingbat

I think some things are better left unsaid...something Hillary hasn't learned yet!
