I found a good book last week while browsing the children's section of Barnes and Noble searching for a book my nephew might like. Can't say I was looking for something in particular but definitely something with more meaning beyond the
Golden Rule. I found this short book based on a story by the Russian novelist, Leo Tolstoy. The best thing about looking for children's books is that you can read it in less than 5 minutes.
The story is about three questions that I think almost everyone finds themselves stuck in throughout their lives. In the end, the story is wonderfully pleasing (you can't go wrong with turtles and pandas as characters) and provides simples answers to the three questions. It's got zen mixed in with morality, but more importantly it gives a quick reminder to cherish the now. Not in the 'carpe diem' go skydiving sort of way, but rather make whatever moment you're in the best it can be.
All I know is that this weekend I had a lot of fun rolling around a dirty floor playing with dozens of action figures, a
Hotwheels and Jenga blocks with my niece and nephew.
