Always the Exception, Never the Rule

Now that I'm more lucid than I've been all week, I decided to do a little reading on tonsillitis.

Everything I can find deals with tonsillitis in children.  Which is nice, except I'm not a child.

Tonsillitis can be caused by either a virus or a bacteria.  Based on my extremely high fever, this one was probably bacterial.  However, now that I'm nearly 48-hours into my antiobiotic treatment, I shouldn't be contagious any more.  This is good, as isolation + cabin fever has been starting to get to me a little bit.  It's rare for me to take four days off work.  But to stay in my apartment that entire time (excepting the trip to the doctor, who told me to stay home) is madness.  Seriously.  Here there be dragons.

Still, nothing on tonsillitis in adults.  But the pills are working, so I'll not complain.  If the pills stop working, I'll ask about a tonsillectomy.  I don't really want to do that because 1) it's surgery, and 2) tonsils are a part of the immune system, but I'll do what I have to do.

I'm pretty sure the cortizone is what's making me loopy.  The tetracycline is pretty tame, I think.  Aside from its ridiculous demands.

It is freaky the way some medicines that are supposed to make us better can make us crazy, too. :-/ I hope you feel better soon.

I know the tonsils are a part of the immune system, but I don't understand how taking them out has made Danyale flem free since losing them.  Maybe losing them is what makes for better immunity.  This is why I am a computer geek and not a doctor.

Now a bit curious about the tetracycline. Did it make you feel a bit nauseated? I had it once, and the first 7 days I felt like puking--exactly what you want when you're already not feeling well.
