| | Maybe It Was A Little Much
So, I went out for a couple hours earlier this afternoon to Accomplish Some Things.
First, I went to Arcadia Knitting, where I purchased some worsted wool and some knitting needles. I am going to force myself into learning. I'm going to look for some handy guides on the internet, or go to the library if that faiils. Or go to my Church Mom. Or shell out the $60 for one of the classes at Arcadia (the $60 covers four classes, so it's a decent deal, methinks).
Then, I stopped by the gym I joined to take a mini-tour and find out when they'd be opening. Looks like they'll be opening by the end of September. At least, that's their goal. Originally they were going to open by September 1. Unless they work around the clock and pull off some minor miracles, that ain't gonna happen. They haven't even filled the fish pond yet. Most of the equipment looks like stuff I'm familiar with from my last gym membership, so I should be good to go once they open. The guy who showed me around said, "We open at 5 a.m.," to which I promptly replied, "Yeah. I don't."
Then I stopped into the library to find out what it takes to get a library card. I need to get my Drivers License changed to my current address. Actually, I could go there with my DL and a phone bill, but I need to change my address anyway, so I'll try to make myself do it that way. The sole purpose of this is so that I can check out knitting books from time to time, since I'm not convinced yet that I'd actually buy those. I don't typically buy non-fiction, so it'll be useful if I can check it out from time to time. I'm not sure I could ever check out a novel, though. I like to keep those. Plus, becoming attached to books that have known countless lovers before me makes me a little uncomfortable. Yes, I know that's weird, but we all have our idiosyncrasies. That happens to be one of mine (one among many).
Then I went to the grocery store. Oh my. Without a doubt, the healthiest trip I've ever made. Everything I purchased was either meat, fruit, or a fruit product. Except for the Sarsparilla. I bought over $90 worth of groceries. Thanks to my Fresh Values Card, though, it only cost me $70. Orange Juice (on sale in a major way - I stocked up), Apple Juice, Applesauce, White Cranberry Peach juice (sounded fun), juice bars, peaches, canned pineapple (I know some wonderful recipes), beef, pork, swordfish, and chicken nuggets. It was cheaper than plain chicken. Is it just me, or has chicken been getting more and more expensive lately?
Walking back fromt he grocery store, though, was rough. I think maybe I overdid it a little. The Doctor did say I was to stay at home. But I tell you now, if I'd had to drink one more glass of water, people would have been hurt. I like water, but I like it better when I have other options.
Going to look for an online knitting guide now. Be good! |
